    Manoscritti di età bizantina tramandano liste di autori greci di eccellenza o canoni nei diversi generi letterari e scientifico-filosofici, ma ne è mancata una ricerca su natura, cronologia, origine, formazione, uso. Il volume Παραδείγματα, termine con cui i testi retorici designano i canoni, dà una nuova edizione critica di queste liste come base degli argomenti trattati. Una delle liste, ritenuta finora unitaria, risulta composta da due liste in origine indipendenti e diacroniche, poi congiunte in una sola: una più antica, risalente almeno in parte alla filologia alessandrina, e un'altra forse del V-VI secolo d. C. con aggiunte fino al IX, formatasi tra Alessandria e Costantinopoli. Una più tarda lista di canoni, riferibile al XIII-XIV secolo, si dimostra diversa dalle precedenti riflettendo istanze tutte bizantine in parte intrinseche all'ortodossia di Bisanzio poiché include Padri della Chiesa e teologi, in parte discese da svolte culturali dei secoli XI-XII, in parte ispirate alla Seconda Sofistica. Si sono quindi esaminati gruppi e autori di ciascuna lista richiamando di questi ultimi contesto geo-storico, attività, produzione e tradizione testuale, posto nell'erudizione seriore. Infine, si sono confrontate le liste con i canoni recepiti o riformulati da letterati ed eruditi bizantini. Il volume può riuscire utile a quanti si occupano di canoni letterari e scientifico-filosofici antichi, di storia dell'erudizione, dell'uso dei classici e dei Padri della Chiesa a Bisanzio. Manuscripts from the Byzantine era hand down lists of outstanding Greek authors or canons in the various literary and scientific-philosophical genres, but there has been a lack of research into their nature, chronology, origin, formation and use. The volume Παραδείγματα, the term used in rhetorical texts to designate the canons, provides a new critical edition of these lists as a basis for the topics discussed. One of the lists, hitherto thought to be unitary, turns out to be composed of two originally independent and diachronic lists, later joined into one: an older one, dating back at least in part to Alexandrian philology, and another possibly from the 5th-6th century AD with additions up to the 9th, formed between Alexandria and Constantinople. A later list of canons, referable to the 13th-14th centuries, proves to be different from the previous ones, reflecting all-Byzantine instances partly intrinsic to Byzantine orthodoxy since it includes Church Fathers and theologians, partly resulting from cultural turning points of the 11th-12th centuries, partly inspired by the Second Sophistic. The groups and authors of each list were then examined, recalling their geo-historical context, activity, production and textual tradition, and their place in Serorian scholarship. Finally, the lists were compared with the canons transposed or reformulated by Byzantine scholars and scholars. The volume may prove useful to those concerned with ancient literary and scientific-philosophical canons, the history of scholarship, the use of the classics and the Church Fathers in Byzantium.

    Dieser Band begleitet eine Gruppenausstellung, die sich mit der Semantik des "Wetters" in der bildenden Kunst beschäftigt und die atmosphärischen Bedingungen als Ausgangspunkt für die Untersuchung des Klimanotstands nimmt. Mehr als 50 Werke zeitgenössischer Künstler und eine ergänzende Auswahl historischer Kunstwerke zeichnen die verschiedenen Arten nach, in denen Klima und Wetter unsere Geschichte geprägt haben und wie die Menschheit mit dem alltäglichen Umgang mit meteorologischen Ereignissen umgegangen ist. Die Ausstellung zeigt das seit langem bestehende Interesse der Künstler am "Sprechen über das Wetter", von allegorischen und En-Pleinair-Gemälden bis hin zu aktuellen Multimedia-Installationen und transnationalem Aktivismus. Das Buch enthält 18 reich illustrierte Essays von Kuratoren, Kunsthistorikern, Architekten, Aktivisten, Linguisten, Meteorologen und Wissenschaftlern. Das Buch enthält auch eine grundlegende Bibliographie der Klimadynamik mit fast 500 Texten, die von Karten, Diagrammen und anderen grafischen Darstellungen begleitet werden.

    Fin da Se questo è un uomo e La tregua, Primo Levi dispiega di fronte al lettore una costellazione di personaggi: personaggi «pescati» dal vivo, «riprodotti con un’impressione soggettiva»; personaggi «spaccati» e «ricombinati» (non solo da tipi umani esistenti ma anche dalla tradizione letteraria). Questo volume offre una prima mappatura critica dei personaggi leviani, e mira a dare avvio a indagini sulla loro costruzione, sulla loro configurazione narrativa e linguistica, così come sul loro statuto ontologico all’interno del mondo possibile dell’universo letterario. Studiare l’opera di Levi attraverso gli «esemplari umani» che la popolano si rivela un ingresso privilegiato: illumina da una nuova prospettiva i debiti verso la tradizione romanzesca del novecento (soprattutto tedesca e anglosassone), l’uso della prima persona e le strategie di proiezione dell’io, la dialettica tra scrittura testimoniale e racconto fantastico, la componente morale in rapporto all’uso di alcune tecniche narrative, prima tra tutte lo straniamento, e infine il rapporto, sempre controverso, tra presa diretta e «arrotondamento» finzionale

    Attraverso più di duecento stampe d’epoca, il volume presenta un’approfondita e inedita panoramica sull’opera di Brassaï. Ungherese di nascita, ma parigino d’adozione, Brassaï – pseudonimo di Gyula Halász – è stato uno dei principali protagonisti della fotografia del Novecento, definito dall’amico Henry Miller "occhio vivo". Celeberrime le sue vedute di una Parigi misteriosa, punteggiata dall’illuminazione pubblica, avvolta nella nebbia o bagnata dalla pioggia, che offrono una testimonianza dell’atmosfera notturna che regnava nella capitale francese dell’epoca; ma Brassaï viaggiò in tutta Europa – anche in Italia e in Spagna – e negli Stati Uniti, lasciando dietro di sé fotografie che portano l’impronta della sua curiosità e del suo stile. Viene qui presentata la sua produzione, dai primi scatti vicini al movimento surrealista alle iconiche immagini di Parigi nella sua veste gaudente e mondana. Particolare attenzione è riservata ai "graffiti", immortalati da Brassaï durante le esplorazioni dei muri parigini, segno del suo legame con le arti visive e con artisti come Jean Dubuffet. Infine, le fotografie dedicate al nudo femminile, alla moda, i ritratti degli amici artisti e dei bambini, e quei piccoli paradossi e sculture involontarie che la realtà offriva al suo sguardo e che Brassaï, creatore di immagini, sapeva cogliere nell’immediatezza del momento

    The new edition of the volume Musca Depicta, printed by Franco Maria Ricci in 1984, is presented alongside an exhibition of the same name, on the topic of the presence of the fly in art, held at the Labirinto della Masone. The book opens with an essay by curator and editor Sylvia Ferino-Pagden, narrating the appearance of the fly – as diverse as it is enigmatic – in visual arts, developing a journey that shifts between the works on display and external references. In some cases, the fly symbolises the devil, while in others it appears as a clever camouflage for the artist; its role in the Vanitas genre and in still lifes is quite clear. In the wake of previous traditions, contemporary art celebrates the importance of the "useless" fly. This essay is followed by a crucial text by André Chastel, the most comprehensive starting point for any art history study on the subject, and a text by Carlo Ossola, which traces the presence of flies in literature by collecting the most significant passages on the topic. The volume ends with an essay by Giuseppe Olmi and Lucia Tongiorgi Tomasi, focused on the scientific representation of the fly. A vast iconographic apparatus accompanies and enhances all these texts, challenging readers in a constant "fly hunt."
