    August 1649 Platform of church discipline agreed upon by the elders and messengers of the churches assembled in the Synod at Cambridge in New England, to be presented at the churches and General Court for their consideration and acceptance. Included was a preface, 17 chapters of instructions and a table of contents. Of note, Chapter 14, page 22 notes that an excommunicated person was spiritually punished; however it did not effect his civil rights
