    February 16, 1733 Proclamation by Governor Jonathan Belcher regarding ownership of land between Kennebeck and St. Croix Rivers, despite a contrary instruction and wrongful appointment of Richard Phillips as governor of the Province of Nova Scotia given by the King. Belcher noted that said actions were contrary to the charter and thus could not be maintained

    Henry Phillips killed Benjamin Woodbridge, a young Boston merchant, in a duel on July 3, 1728, and escaped to France the following day. This duel caused a great sensation in Boston, the outcome being that Phillips was indicted for murder by a grand jury and the General Court enacted a law placing heavy penalties on dueling.     On November 8, 1711, Hilton and a number of others pursued and recovered a sloop stolen from York, Maine, by a Frenchman and three Indians. The Indians were put to death, and the scalps brought to Boston for bounty. The incident led to renewed hostilities with the Indians. See Banks, Charles Edward. History of York, Maine.
