Le regain d'intérêt pour le réel manifesté par la production littéraire à partir des années 1980 se reflète dans la présence de plus en plus fréquente dans les livres publiés de références à l'expression médiatique, qui accentue alors son influence sur la vie quotidienne, notamment par l'intensification de l'audience télévisuelle. Les écrits de Marguerite Duras et Annie Ernaux constituent une voie d'accès privilégiée pour saisir l'ampleur de ce phénomène. Appartenant à des générations différentes, elles témoignent, chacune selon son expérience, des évolutions historiques de la communication de masse et de son influence sur la perception du monde et la construction du débat public dans la société contemporaine. L'une et l'autre contribuent à mettre en question la représentation du « réel » proposée dans les médias par des pratiques littéraires singulières qui renouvellent les enjeux politiques de l'écriture. Mais la posture d'écrivain engagé, chère aux auteurs de l'après-guerre, se trouve complexifiée par les contraintes associées à la médiatisation culturelle. Alors que Marguerite Duras se joue des ambivalences générées par la surmédiatisation, Annie Ernaux gagne la reconnaissance du public par une distance soigneusement cultivée par rapport à la visibilité offerte par les médias. As members of different generations, they reveal, each one with their own lived experience, the historical evolutions of mass communication and of its influence on the perception of the world and the construction of public debate in the contemporary society. By uncommon practices of writing, renewing the political stakes of litterature, both of them contribute to question the representation of « reality » shown by the media. But the posture of commitment, precious to the post-Worl-War-2 writers, is complexified by the constraints boni with the promotion of culture throught the media. Whereas Marguerite Duras has played with the ambivalences of excessive meditization, Annie Ernaux has won the recognition of the public by keeping carefully distant with the visibility given by the media. However, wether subverting the mediatic standards or criticizing from the outside, both of them show how the literary discourse can become a space of specific expression by exchanging with the mass media and challenging them
