    Das Handbuch Sprache in der Kunstkommunikation stellt Erscheinungsformen und Funktionen von Sprache im gesellschaftlichen Funktionsbereich der Bildenden Kunst dar. Damit wird erstmals ein systematischer Überblick über den Gegenstand vorgelegt. Die Kunstkommunikation ist seit jeher ein Leitmedium der sozialen Selbstverortung von Kollektiven, Gruppen und Individuen. Kommunikation durch und über Kunst gelingt aber nur durch Sprache. Der Zusammenhang zwischen der Bearbeitung kommunikativer Aufgaben und sozialer Positionierung in der Kunstkommunikation bildet dabei ein Spannungsfeld, in dem sich die charakteristischen oralen und literalen Routinen ausbilden.     Der Band führt aus einer multimodalen Perspektive in die Relevanz räumlicher Aspekte für die Interaktion ein. Auf der Grundlage von Videoaufzeichnungen analysiert er multimodale Verfahren, mit denen Interaktionsbeteiligte für jeweils situationsspezifische Zwecke vorhandene räumliche Aspekte nutzen und selbst aktiv räumliche Strukturen herstellen. Präsentiert werden neun empirische Untersuchungen sehr verschiedener Situationstypen: Außendreh am FilmSet, Bürgerversammlung, Universität, Museum, Ausstellung, Chemieunterricht, Arbeitsmeeting, Kochsendung und Hörfilm. Die Analysen werden durch eine theoretische Einleitung im etablierten Kontext der raumbezogenen Analyse verortet. Und es wird expliziert, was die Perspektive auf Raum als interaktive Ressource methodisch impliziert. Neben der detaillierten Rekonstruktion konkreter Raumnutzung unter spezifischen situativen Bedingungen werdend vor allem zwei Punkt deutlich: Zum einen ist Interaktion immer ein raumbezogenes und raumbasiertes soziales Unterfangen. Sie muss folglich auch systematisch hinsichtlich dieser Qualität analysiert werden. Zum anderen steht die Analyse des Raumes als interaktive Ressource in methodischer und methodologischer Hinsicht noch ganz am Anfang.

    Abstract: Adopting the methodological framework of Conversation Analysis and Interactional Linguistics, this dissertation explores how a particular interactional format, French yes/no interrogatives, is adopted by citizens in participatory meetings with politicians and experts to format and accomplish actions that are not only traditionally associated with asking questions or questioning, but also actions such as criticising and blaming. Special attention is paid to the formulation of the complex turns produced by the citizens and the responses that their recipients provide to the actions carried out.
    As a result, this dissertation demonstrates that even though questions are an ordinary type of action in everyday conversation, they constitute a specialised type of action within some institutional contexts, such as political meetings. In the meetings studied, they represent a powerful way for citizens not only to seek information, but also to display a political opinion and express critical positions. Question–answer sequences therefore become a window into larger issues related to transparency, entitlement and rights and obligations, as well as bring participatory democracy into being

Welche sprachlich-kommunikativen Muster des Urlaubsgrußes haben sich bewährt und wie haben sie sich im Laufe der Jahrzehnte verändert? Und droht die Ansichtskarte angesichts der Konkurrenz elektronischer Nachfolger auszusterben? Doch so bekannt dieses Buch ist, so wenig wurde es tatsächlich gelesen. Angesichts radikaler Veränderungen der Lebenswelt unterziehen die Beiträger*innen des Bandes die »Studies« gut 50 Jahre nach ihrer Ersterscheinung einer Relektüre. Sie decken bisher verborgene Bezüge auf, rekapitulieren methodologische und empirische Anschlüsse an Garfinkel, diskutieren Parallelen und Differenzen zu anderen soziologischen und kulturwissenschaftlichen Forschungsprogrammen und demonstrieren das kritische Potenzial der Ethnomethodologie.

    Abstract: Adopting the methodological framework of Conversation Analysis and Interactional Linguistics, this dissertation explores how a particular interactional format, French yes/no interrogatives, is adopted by citizens in participatory meetings with politicians and experts to format and accomplish actions that are not only traditionally associated with asking questions or questioning, but also actions such as criticising and blaming. Special attention is paid to the formulation of the complex turns produced by the citizens and the responses that their recipients provide to the actions carried out.
    As a result, this dissertation demonstrates that even though questions are an ordinary type of action in everyday conversation, they constitute a specialised type of action within some institutional contexts, such as political meetings. In the meetings studied, they represent a powerful way for citizens not only to seek information, but also to display a political opinion and express critical positions. Question–answer sequences therefore become a window into larger issues related to transparency, entitlement and rights and obligations, as well as bring participatory democracy into being

    In der Textlinguistik stehen heute zahlreiche analytische Orientierungen mehr oder weniger unverbunden neben einander. Diese unbefriedigende Situation ist der Ausgangspunkt für den theoretischen Neuansatz, der in der vorliegenden Studie entwickelt wird. Dieser besteht in einer Theorie der Textkommunikation, die auf zwei grundlegenden Prämissen aufbaut: Textkommunikation ist eine soziale Wirklichkeit sui generis; und die Konstitution dieser sozialen Wirklichkeit erfolgt im Medium der Schrift. Textkommunikation ist Kommunikation mit und durch Schrift. Die Grundbedingung dieser Kommunikation ist nicht die Anwesenheit der Kommunikationsteilnehmer, sondern die Lesbarkeit des Textes, die im Moment der Lektüre aufgrund von Lesbarkeitshinweisen zustande gebracht wird. Der Text ist in dieser Sicht nichts anderes als das Ensemble solcher Lesbarkeitshinweise, die beim Lesen situations- und kontextabhängig ausgewertet werden. Lesbarkeitshinweise machen deshalb den Gegenstand der Textlinguistik aus. Die vorgelegte Theorie der Textkommunikation ermöglicht es, den Lektüreprozess als genuin soziales Geschehen zu erfassen, dessen Fluchtpunkt nicht das jeweils konkrete Textverständnis eines empirischen Lesers ist, sondern die soziale Lesbarkeit The study begins from two premises not previously considered together: that written communication represents a social reality sui generis, and that this social reality is constituted in the medium of writing. The authors invoke a new understanding of the concept of readability as a fundamental condition for communication with and through writing, and elaborate its theoretical and empirical implications
