    Vera Dünkel beschreibt die frühe Röntgentechnik erstmals nicht im Hinblick auf ihre medizinischen Anwendungen hin, sondern als Generator einer umfassenden Bildproduktion, die eine erstaunliche Vielfalt von Motiven hervorbrachte – von menschlichen Körperteilen über Alltagsgegenstände bis hin zu kleinen Tieren. Mit dem Fokus auf Sichtbarmachungstechniken und Sinngebungsstrategien ist diese interdisziplinäre Studie ein bedeutender auch methodischer Beitrag zur Rekonstruktion der modernen Bildgeschichte. Der großzügig gestaltete Band präsentiert hier erstmals in konzentrierter Form zusammengetragenes und unveröffentlichtes Bildmaterial aus der Frühzeit der Röntgentechnik zum Teil in Originalgröße und übersetzt die Ästhetik früher Röntgenaufnahmen in materialisierte Buchform.
