    The 35 original essays in A Companion to Narrative Theory constitute the best available introduction to this vital and contested field of humanistic enquiry. The essays represent all the major critical approaches to narrative - narratological, rhetorical, feminist, post-structuralist, historicist - and investigate and debate the relations among them. In addition, they stretch the boundaries of the field by considering narratives in different disciplines, such as law and medicine, and in a variety of media, including film, music, and painting.     Band V.2 enthält die Arbeiten zum Themenkomplex Zeichen, Sprache und Kommunikation. Dazu zählen eine frühe Studie zur Sprach- und Symboltheorie, eine phänomenologische Deutung von Sprachpathologien sowie der späte und bedeutende Aufsatz »Symbol, Wirklichkeit und Gesellschaft«. Zusätzlich enthält der Band die Vorlesungen zur Sprachsoziologie, die in einer aus Mitschriften seiner Studenten rekonstruierten Fassung publiziert werden. Diese Arbeiten von Schütz kreisen um die Frage der Möglichkeitsbedingungen sozialer Ordnung. Vor dem Hintergrund der Brüchigkeit dieser Ordnung verweist Schütz auf die bindenden Kräfte der Sprache. Vor allem die Sprache ist für den Aufbau und den Erhalt von Intersubjektivität relevant, denn gerade in der sprachvermittelten Kommunikation (re-)produzieren die Mitglieder einer Gesellschaft die wechselseitige Unterstellung einer gemeinsam geteilten Lebenswelt. Diese sprachlich vermittelten Intersubjektivitätskonstruktionen erweisen sich als wesentliche Bedingung für die Möglichkeit von Sozialität. Insgesamt eröffnet der Band nicht nur den Zugang zur Entwicklung von Schütz' Denken über Zeichen, Sprache und Kommunikation. Theologische Modelle der Bibelhermeneutik werden mit geistes- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Modellen des allgemeinen Textverstehens in einen innovativen Dialog gebracht. Die Artikel werden von Vertretern der beteiligten theologischen Fächer sowie von den entsprechenden sprach- und literaturwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, der Philosophie und den Religionswissenschaften (Judaistik und Islamwissenschaft) erarbeitet. Die so entstehende enzyklopädisch strukturierte Texthermeneutik der Bibel und ihrer Teiltexte versteht die kanonische Fassung der Bibel als Supertext, dessen Teiltexte zu dem kanonischen Textcorpus der "Bibel" zusammengestellt wurden, für das seit der Alten Kirche immer wieder spezielle Verstehenslehren entworfen wurden und dessen Auslegungsgeschichte eine eigene Textkultur bildet, die sich in einem ständigen Austausch mit philologischen, philosophischen und literatur- und sprachwissenschaftlichen Modellen von Hermeneutik und Interpretation befindet The Dictionary of Biblical Hermeneutics brings together concepts relating to the theories, methods and conceptions of Bible interpretations under the central heading of a text-referenced hermeneutics. The resultant textual hermeneutics of the Bible forms a new paradigm which does not regard the Bible primarily as Gospel or Holy Scripture but views it from a textual and literary studies perspective as a "Supratext".
