The present volume contains essays on the topic of change in English language, literature and culture.     This book provides a detailed linguistic analysis of the communication between highly proficient bilingual couples, each consisting of a native speaker of English and of Swiss German. Combining the accounts of ten couples on their language use with an analysis of their actual linguistic behaviour, several areas of the partners' speech and interaction were closely examined. These include their language choice and language mixing, attitudes, expression of emotions, swearing, as well as their humour and laughter. In addition, the influence of the bilinguals' mother tongue and gender on their language use was explored. Thus, the study provides valuable insights into the language practices of established bilingual couples, while also contributing to the fields of fluent late bilingualism and gender research.

    Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit den Auftretensbedingungen des Pronomens „es“, das im Deutschen als Korrelat (Platzhalter) zu Subjekt- und Akkusativobjektsätzen gebraucht wird. Für die aktive Kompetenz stellt das „es“-Korrelate in der DaF-Didaktik eine ausgesprochene Lernschwierigkeit dar, weil man eine Reihe linguistischer Faktoren mit einbeziehen muss, um festzustellen, ob ein „es“ als Korrelat im Matrixsatz auftreten muss, kann oder nicht darf. Wirft man einen Blick auf die vorhandenen Lernerkorpora, wird deutlich, dass die Probanden, selbst wenn sie seit einigen Jahren Deutsch lernen und daher als Fortgeschrittene gelten, beim Schreiben Korrelatfehler aller Art machen. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, ein Unterrichtskonzept in Bezug auf die „es“-Problematik zu erstellen, das im DaF-Unterricht für fortgeschrittene Lerner mit wenig linguistischem Vorwissen einsetzbar ist. Damit das Unterrichtskonzept über ein solides theoretisches Fundament verfügen kann, werden zunächst die Auftretensbedingungen von „es“ anhand einer korpuslinguistischen Untersuchung ermittelt. Des Weiteren wird eine Fehleranalyse aus Texten von fortgeschrittenen chinesischen DaF-Lernern vorgenommen, um herauszufinden, welche prädikativen Ausdrücke den Lernern wegen des „es“-Korrelates am meisten Schwierigkeiten bereiten und mit welchen die Lerner i. d. R. gut umgehen können. Ferner werden drei einschlägige Grammatiken in Bezug auf die „es“-Problematik kritisch betrachtet. Daran schließt das didaktische Konzept an, mit dem die Hoffnung verbunden ist, dass die DaF-Lerner mit nur geringem Zeitaufwand einen Überblick über diese Problematik erhalten und das „es“-Korrelat bei der schriftlichen Sprachproduktion richtig gebrauchen können.

    Spätestens seit dem richtungsweisenden Band Lob des Sports von Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht (Frankfurt am Main, Suhrkamp, 2005) ist die Thematik «Sport» dem Schattendasein der romanistischen Forschung entronnen und erfreut sich durch die Anbindung an sprach-, literatur- und kulturwissenschaftliche Fragestellungen bei Romanistinnen und Romanisten wachsender Beliebtheit. Erstmals – soweit ich sehe – legt nun Nelson Puccio das ambitionierte Projekt einer interdisziplinär angelegten Dissertation zu einer spezifischen Sportart, nämlich dem italienischen Radsport, vor; sie wurde von Edgar Radtke betreut und von der Neuphilologischen Fakultät der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg im Juni 2010 angenommen.
