    The de-constitution of the 'I' is at the centre of Manuele Gragnolati's essay 'Differently Queer: Temporality, Aesthetics, and Sexuality in Pier Paolo Pasolini's "Petrolio" and Elsa Morante's "Aracoeli"'. The essay explores the relationship between temporality, aesthetics, and sexuality in the final novels of two twentieth-century Italian authors: Pasolini's "Petrolio" (1972–75) and Morante's "Aracoeli" (1982). Both novels mobilize a form of temporality that resists a sense of linear and teleological development and that instead appears contorted, inverted, and suspended. The article argues that both novels thereby allow for the articulation of queer desires and pleasures that cannot be inscribed in normative logics of completion, progression, or productivity. It shows how the aesthetics of Pasolini's and Morante's texts replicate the movement of queer subjectivity and dismantle the traditional structure of the novel but do so differently. The fractured and dilated movement of "Petrolio's" textuality corresponds to a post-Oedipal and fully formed subject who is haunted by his complicity with bourgeois power and wants to shatter and annihilate himself by replicating the paradoxical pleasure of non-domesticated sexuality. "Aracoeli", by contrast, has a 'formless form' ('forma senza forma') that corresponds to the position of never completing the process of subject formation by adapting to the symbolic order. The poetic operation of Morante's novel consists in staging an interior journey, backwards along the traces of memory and the body and at the same time forward towards embracing the partiality and fluidity of an inter-subjectivity that is always in the process of becoming.

    In Charles Burns’ 'Black Hole', high school students mutate as a result of a sexually transmitted disease. Contrasting the topos of positive mutation in superhero comics by Marvel or DC, Burns shows the mutation as mere deformity that cannot be employed in any aesthetic or even reasonable sense. Burns’ critical reflection depicts the transition to adulthood and puberty as a group’s monstrous transformation, while thematising the limits between reality and fantasy, individualization and conformity, as well as sexual dichotomies. The depicted metamorphoses can be described with the term 'becoming' that is employed by Deleuze and Guattari to establish the idea of a structural system of organization that shows the differences between subjects and is capable of making these differences identifiable through techniques of fantastic literature and metamorphosis. Next to the metamorphoses, the ideas of the multifariousness of 'becoming' and its infectious proliferation are reflected in Burns’ imagery along the same lines. The group-in-becoming is not shaped through traditional social paradigms or even through the consensus of a homogenous group, such as it is in the depictions offered by the superhero comic. In that its narrative and graphic design test the limits of its medium, 'Black Hole' manifests a phantasmagorical space of becoming-I. Conventional narrative forms are contrasted with a diachrony: these conditions must be reconsidered. ; Charles Burns’ Comic 'Black Hole', in dem die Jugendlichen einer High-School als Folge einer sexuell übertragbaren Krankheit mutieren, greift den in Superheldencomics klassischen Topos der Metamorphose auf. Im Gegensatz zu den positiven Mutationen im DC- oder Marvel-Universum, zeigt 'Black Hole' nur Deformation, die sich nicht ästhetisch oder sinnvoll auflösen lässt. Kritisch werden Erwachsenwerden und Pubertät als monströse Transformation einer Gruppe erfasst und Grenzen zwischen Realität und Phantastik, Individualisierung und Konformität, sowie sexuelle Dichotomien thematisiert. ...

    Astrid Deuber-Mankowsky wirft einen Blick auf Alfred N. Whitehead und sein 1929 erschienenes Hauptwerk "Prozess und Realität. Entwurf einer Kosmologie". Zur Ausformulierung seines denkbar umfassenden Ziels einer "vollständigen" Kosmologie rekurriere Whitehead auf eine "systematische Philosophie des Prozesses". Whitehead sei davon überzeugt, dass die philosophische Erkenntnis sich den Ergebnissen der Relativitätstheorie und der Quantentheorie zu stellen habe und zugleich versuchen müsse, sich gegen deren Absolutheitsansprüche zu behaupten. Während die Quantentheorie gezeigt habe, dass sich kleinste Teilchen diskontinuierlich zueinander verhalten, beharre Whitehead auf der Möglichkeit, ein Ganzes zu denken und am "Prinzip der Kontinuität" energisch festzuhalten. Sein Bemühen ziele darauf ab, das berühmte, auch von Leibniz systematisch aufgegriffene Diktum "natura non facit saltus" wieder in sein Recht zu setzen. Die Spannung zwischen Kontinuität und Atomizität begreife Whitehead konsequent als "Komplementarität", ein entscheidendes Relais hierfür stelle seine Entdeckung der "realen Potentialität" dar. Anders als man vielleicht zunächst annehmen könnte, steht Whiteheads Interesse an Leibniz damit nicht in fundamentalem Widerspruch zu dem Latours, umso weniger als eine Zäsur zwischen Natur und Sozialem oder eine Einschränkung von Subjektivität auf den Menschen schon für Whitehead keine Verbindlichkeit mehr besaß.
