    Goethe's »Seefahrt« (1776) was written a few months after the poet's arrival in Weimar. The study has a dual aim. It shows first that the poem was a response by Goethe to Salomon Gessner's idyll »Der Sturm«, a response based on a poetological program indebted to Herder's concept of the ode form and Diderot's theory of drama. In addition, it outlines the anthropological horizons within which 18th century sea poetry developed. Goethe's poem is the presentation of a 'physical and moral' conflict. Against the background of a tradition that goes back to the 107th Psalm, it unfolds a motivic constellation of genuinely Horatian poetic inspiration and actualizes its relevance for Goethe's own life-world.

    Unter "Stimme des Nordens" sind Beiträge versammelt, die kenntnisreich in maritime Märchenmotive einführen, die historische Bedingungen der "JungĆfrau Maleen" und der künstlerischen Sicht von Philipp Otto Runge erkunden und die mythologischen Nationalepen der Finnen und der Esten - Kalevala und Kalevipoeg - in ihrer großen allgemeinen Bedeutung erläutern. Unter "Märchen und Seele" gilt: Märchen sind gewiss nicht nur ein Spiegel der Seele, aber sie sind eben auch ein Spiegel jener inneren Welt, die so tief zu uns gehört und doch auch tief in uns verborgen ist. Doch so verschieden wie das, was Menschen mit dem Wort "Seele" meinen, sind auch die Versuche, seelische Prozesse in Märchen aufzuspüren oder mit Märchen anzuregen. In den hier veröffentlichten Beiträgen wird exemplarisch untersucht, wie aus Sicht von Hirnforschung, Psychologie und Therapie, von Philosophie und Spiritualität gedeutet wird, warum Märchen auch heutige Menschen noch berühren und wie wir mit Märchen seelische Reifungs- und Heilungsprozesse besser verstehen und unterstützen können.
