    ger: Bildschirmspiele sind die ersten interaktiven Medien, die es dem Nutzer erlauben, in Form des Mensch-Maschine-Dialogs in das Bildschirmgeschehen einzugreifen.
    Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden die Begriffe Interaktivitaet, Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion und technisch vermittelte interpersonale Kommunikation erlaeutert. Danach folgt die Darstellung der geschichtlichen Entwicklung der Computer- und Fernsehtechnik, denn durch diese Entwicklung wurde mediale Interaktivitaet erst moeglich. Eine kurze Geschichte des interaktiven Fernsehens zeigt, welche Angebote und Dienste hier moeglich sind und wie deren Umsetzungsversuche in Pilotprojekten verliefen.
    Am Beginn des zweiten Teils der Arbeit steht die Darstellung der allgemeinen Merkmale der Bildschirmspiele und deren Klassifizierung nach Spielgenres. Die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Geraete, vom ersten einfachen Videospielautomaten bis hin zu den High-Tech-Konsolen Mitte der neunziger Jahre zeigt, wie sehr die Moeglichkeiten der Interaktivitaet an die Moeglichkeiten der Technik geknuepft sind. Eine Bibliographie der aktuellen Bildschirmspiel-Zeitschriften - sie helfen dem Nutzer sich in der Masse der Spiele und Geraete zurechtzufinden - bildet den Abschluss der Arbeit.
    eng: Video games present the first interactive media allowing the user to intervene with screen action in terms of man-machine-dialog.
    The first part of the dissertation contains an explanation of terms like interactivity, man-machine-communication and technically mediated interpersonal communication. It is followed by a presentation of the historical development of computer and video technology which was fundamental for media interactivity. A short historical outline of interactive television demonstrates the variety of choices and services and the pilot studies concerning their implementation.
    The second part starts with a presentation of the general features of video games and their classification by game genres. The history of development of technical devices from simply designed arcade games to highly developped home consoles of the nineties shows the extent to which the possibilities of interactivity are connected with technological possibilities. The final part of the dissertation contains a bibliography of current video game magazines - they help the user to get oriented in the huge amount of games and devices.
