    Die jüdische Hermeneutik der Tora wird in dieser Studie mittels der Exegese Benno Jacobs und im Vergleich zur literarkritischen Schule Julius Wellhausens beleuchtet. Beispielhaft wird dies anhand von drei Themenblöcken dargestellt: der Kult als Symbolsprache; die Tora als das "wahre praktische Evangelium"; das Studium der Tora als Offenbarung. Im geoffenbarten Gesetz der Tora sah Jacob die "magna charta für Menschenwürde und Völkerglück". Im jüdischen Schrittum wird dieses Gesetz sehr kreativ und theologisch innovativ ausgelegt. Diese Darstellung der jüdischen Hermeneutik richtet sich sowohl an Alttestamentler als auch an Theologen, die am christlich-jüdischen Dialog interessiert sind

Professor Lamberton argues that this tradition of reading was to create new demands on subsequent epic and thereby alter permanently the nature of European epic.     Historically, Muslim orthodoxy has regarded the Quran as God's Word dictated to Muhammad through the mediation of the Angel Gabriel, and has thus maintained the corresponding argument that the Prophet played no role in shaping the content of the Quranic revelations. This paper discusses a project of what I shall refer to as 'reforming theology' within contemporary Islamic scholarship which stands in contrast to the dominant orthodox view of revelation and the nature of the Quran. In particular, the paper examines how several contemporary Muslim scholars, namely Fazlur Rahman (from Pakistan), Abdolkarim Soroush and Muhammad Mujtahed Shabestari (from Iran) and Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd (from Egypt), challenge the widely accepted idea about the Quran being the literal Word of God. The paper argues that the project of these scholars represents a radically new direction in Islamic theology because of its strong emphasis on the human side of the Quran. It also shows that the implications of these scholars' re-examination of traditional theories of revelation are not only limited to theological matters, or specifically the communicative relationship between God and His Prophet, but also have a number of consequences for the practice of exegesis.

    This paper examines various ways in which apocalyptic studies can benefit from the introduction of the term and concept of gilayon, a reconstructed Hebrew counterpart of the Judeo-Greek apocalypse. The term gilayon, which combines the meanings of "revealed book" and "book of revelation," refers to a central image of early Jewish revealed literature and could serve to define an important corpus, the boundaries of which might well overlap with (but still differ from) what is understood by the "genre apocalypse" in modern research. Moreover, this reconstructed concept uncovers additional meanings and associations, which shed light on texts known as "apocalyptic," and has explanatory power for many phenomena associated with them. The introduction of gilayon may modify the entire paradigm of our understanding of early Jewish mysticism and help to divert the discussion of textual genres associated with it from a phenomenological to a historical route.

    Wann dolmetschen wir? Das ist die Frage, die diesem wichtigen neuen Werk von Johann Michel zugrunde liegt. Der Mensch verbringt seine Zeit nicht mit Dolmetschen im Alltag. Wir interpretieren, wenn wir mit einem verschwommenen, verwirrten, problematischen Sinn konfrontiert werden. Das ist die Originalität der Perspektive des Autors, die das anthropologische Verbot beseitigt, das die Hermeneutik seit Heidegger behindert hat. Michel schlägt eine Anthropologie des homo interpretans als erstes und grundlegendes Prinzip der fundamentalen Ontologie (in Bezug auf die Bedeutung des Seins) sowie der Erkenntnistheorie (in Bezug auf die Interpretation in den Geisteswissenschaften) vor. Er argumentiert, dass die Wurzel der Hermeneutik in gewöhnlichen Interpretationstechniken (Erklärung, Klärung, Enthüllung) liegt und nicht als eine Reihe erlernter Technologien, die auf bestimmte Bereiche (Texte, Symbole, Handlungen) angewendet werden When do we interpret? That is the question at the heart of this important new work by Johann Michel. The human being does not spend his time interpreting in everyday life. We interpret when we are confronted with a blurred, confused, problematic sense. Such is the originality of the author's perspective which removes the anthropological interdict that has hampered hermeneutics since Heidegger. Michel proposes an anthropology of homo interpretans as the first and founding principle of fundamental ontology (relating to the meaning of being) as well as of the theory of knowledge (relating to interpretation in the human sciences). He argues that the root of hermeneutics lies in ordinary interpretative techniques (explication, clarification, unveiling), rather than as a set of learned technologies applied to specific fields (texts, symbols, actions)

    Die jüdische Hermeneutik der Tora wird in dieser Studie mittels der Exegese Benno Jacobs und im Vergleich zur literarkritischen Schule Julius Wellhausens beleuchtet. Beispielhaft wird dies anhand von drei Themenblöcken dargestellt: der Kult als Symbolsprache; die Tora als das "wahre praktische Evangelium"; das Studium der Tora als Offenbarung. Im geoffenbarten Gesetz der Tora sah Jacob die "magna charta für Menschenwürde und Völkerglück". Im jüdischen Schrittum wird dieses Gesetz sehr kreativ und theologisch innovativ ausgelegt. Diese Darstellung der jüdischen Hermeneutik richtet sich sowohl an Alttestamentler als auch an Theologen, die am christlich-jüdischen Dialog interessiert sind This study examines Jewish Torah hermeneutics comparing the exegeses of Benno Jacob with Julius Wellhausen's school of literary criticism.
