    Gender – kaum ein aktuelles Thema emotionalisiert die Gesellschaft derzeit mehr. Durch die breite Thematisierung der Gender Studies und deren gesellschaftlicher Polarisierung war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis die Diskussion auch in die unternehmerische Wirklichkeit vordringen würde. Und in der Tat findet sich das Thema, insbesondere bei Großunternehmen, die in der Öffentlichkeit stehen, auf der Agenda wieder. Obwohl Gendersprache von einer großen Mehrheit der Gesellschaft abgelehnt wird, plant mehr als die Hälfte der im DAX vertretenen Unternehmen die Einführung einer solchen Sprachregelung. Wo genderneutrale Sprache bislang eingeführt worden ist, ist dies auf freiwilliger Basis erfolgt. Die Erfahrung zeigt jedoch, dass es nur eine Frage der Zeit sein wird, bis die ersten Unternehmen von einer verpflichtenden Sprachregelung Gebrauch machen werden. Dies wirft zahlreiche rechtliche Frage- und Problemstellungen auf, denen sich das vorliegende Werk annimmt.

    This study, focusing on Latin American literature, discusses the motif of a variety of worlds as a key concept of the modern novel in terms of genre, culture, and fiction theory: the world of the modern novel is always already in contact with another one.     Die Studie akzentuiert die spezifische Vielfalt der deutschen Barockliteratur. Sie bietet neben einem Grundriß literarischer Diversität die exemplarische Analyse gattungsinterner Spielräume von Epigramm und Sonett. Zudem erschließt sie Lizenzen, die Barockpoetiken trotz ihrer hohen Restriktivität eröffnen. Prozesse literarischer Diversifikation befördern die Unabhängigkeit der Dichtungspraxis gegenüber poetologischen Vorgaben. Inwiefern trägt dies zum Untergang des barocken Poetikparadigmas um 1730 bei? The study points up the specific diversity of German baroque literature. Alongside a general overview of this characteristic, it also provides an analysis of specific forms of latitude available in the genres epigram and sonnet. Further, it indicates different kinds of license afforded by baroque poetologies despite their otherwise highly restrictive nature. Processes of literary diversification encouraged certain freedoms in the practice of literature over and against the poetological limitations imposed. To what extent did this contribute to the decline of the baroque poetological paradigm around 1730?

    The sheer diversity of the Asian American populace makes them an ambiguous racial category. Indeed, the 2010 U.S. Census lists twenty-four Asian-ethnic groups, lumping together under one heading people with dramatically different historical backgrounds and cultures. In Racial Ambiguity in Asian American Culture, Jennifer Ann Ho shines a light on the hybrid and indeterminate aspects of race, revealing ambiguity to be paramount to a more nuanced understanding both of race and of what it means to be Asian American. Exploring a variety of subjects and cultural artifacts, Ho reveals how Asian American subjects evince a deep racial ambiguity that unmoors the concept of race from any fixed or finite understanding. For example, the book examines the racial ambiguity of Japanese American nisei Yoshiko Nakamura deLeon, who during World War II underwent an abrupt transition from being an enemy alien to an assimilating American, via the Mixed Marriage Policy of 1942. It looks at the blogs of Korean, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese Americans who were adopted as children by white American families and have conflicted feelings about their "honorary white" status. And it discusses Tiger Woods, the most famous mixed-race Asian American, whose description of himself as "Cablinasian"—reflecting his background as Black, Asian, Caucasian, and Native American—perfectly captures the ambiguity of racial classifications. Race is an abstraction that we treat as concrete, a construct that reflects only our desires, fears, and anxieties. Jennifer Ho demonstrates in Racial Ambiguity in Asian American Culture that seeing race as ambiguous puts us one step closer to a potential antidote to racism
