    Die vorliegende Arbeit soll vor allem einen Gedankengang offenbaren, an dessen Seiten sich viele Abzweigungen und Wege eröffnen werden, denn der Weg der zurückgelegt werden soll ist ein langer; er erstreckt sich über mediale Grenzen hinweg und reicht von einem Jahrhundert bis in das nächste. Der Weg soll eine Verbindung darstellen, von Schriften und Ideen aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, von den Autoren E.T.A. Hoffmann, Jean Paul und Schopenhauer, die man als Vertreter einer romantischen Musikästhetik verstehen kann, und der Rolle von Sound und Musik im Werk des Regisseurs David Lynch.

    Das ästhetisch-philosophische Statement une forme qui pense, erstmals von Godard niedergeschrieben und von Deleuze durchdacht, kann als Antwort auf die ontologische Frage "Was ist Kino?" verstanden werden. Heute, in Zeiten der Dekonstruktion der vorherr schenden Formen de s pos t-digi tal en Kinos im "Hyperkapitalismus" (Hardt/Negri 2000:183), aus dem heraus Technologie, Kunst und Bild produziert werden, schwingt dieses Statement unumgänglich mit. Das Kino ist eher eine Form, die denkt – als den Schnitt/Montage als ein Gedanken kreierendes Gehirn zu verstehen. Gegenwärtig, teils wegen des Fehlens oder der Knappheit des Denkens innerhalb der kapitalistischen Infrastruktur und der meisten ihrer Vorrichtungen, fungiert die Form hier als eine Art philosophische Erinnerung an die Fähigkeit des Kinos, Akte der Wahrnehmung zu re-konstruieren. Es ist die, dem Kino innewohnende phänomenologische Kapazität, zu erkennen – auch post-digital. Gilles Deleuze dachte bereits darüber nach...

    Starting from a compact history of the American animation film, from its early stages, evoking the classics of its Golden Age (the animations of Disney, Warner Bros., MGM etc.) to the most recent 3D-animation films (Pixar, DreamWorks etc.), the book analyzes the technical and especially the aesthetic evolution of the sound accompanying animations through decades. The work recalls numberless examples of American animation shorts and features referring thus to a wide range of artistic means through which sound (dialogue, sound effects, music) complement the image and contribute to creating comic effects or characterize heroes, describing at the same time the aesthetic approaches of the sound track in the representation of dreams, leitmotifs, in creating counterpoints, in constructing suspense and the silence with multiple aesthetic values, in underlining specific animation clichés and geographic or cultural references. Der Blick verschiebt sich dann auf das Wahrnehmen eines Films: eine Untersuchung zum Spielfilm "Böse Zellen" von Barbara Albert (Österreich, 2003) konzentriert sich auf zwei ästhetische Elemente, Überlegungen zu Komposition und Bedeutung öffnen sukzessive den Raum für einen Montage-Text.
