    In der Dramatik des Sturm und Drang wird die Selbstbestimmungsmaxime der Aufklärung um einen ausgeprägten Leidenschaftsanspruch ergänzt. These der vorliegenden Arbeit ist: Die Umwertung der Leidenschaft im Zeichen der Natur, der menschlichen wie der universellen, bringt Kritik an sozialen Rollen hervor, die im Rahmen der Norm als 'vernünftig' gelten. In Anlehnung an Kant, der die natürlichen Leidenschaften als "Freiheits- und Geschlechtsneigung" definiert, werden vier Dramen des Sturm und Drang auf folgende Aspekte hin interpretiert: Goethes Götz auf Vitalität; Schillers Räuber auf Freigeisterei; Lenzens Hofmeister auf Entsagung und Wagners Kindermörderin auf Liebe. Die von Kant konstatierte "selbstverschuldete Unmündigkeit" des Menschen wird in den dramatischen Rollen des Sturm und Drang als 'gesellschaftlich verschuldete' umgedeutet. Der Konflikt zwischen passio und ratio ist von daher kein huma-ner, sondern ein sozialer.
