    Die Perspektive des Performativen geht davon aus, dass kulturelle Phänomene und Prozesse neue Wirklichkeiten hervorbringen und nicht lediglich als Zusammenhänge von Zeichen zu begreifen sind, die es zu entziffern und zu verstehen gilt. Texte, Bilder, Artefakte, Aufführungen und Praktiken aller Art lassen sich damit neu und anders wahrnehmen. Kulturen aus der Perspektive des Performativen zu untersuchen, ermöglicht den Kulturwissenschaften ganz neue Einsichten, die auch für den Laien faszinierend sind. Erika Fischer-Lichte stellt in diesem Band das Performative als eine kulturwissenschaftliche Grundkategorie vor und liefert damit die erste deutschsprachige Einführung in die kulturwissenschaftliche Performativitätsforschung.
