    Interreligiöse Bildung versteht sich als Beitrag zum friedlichen Zusammenleben der Religionen und Weltanschauungen. Doch auch in interreligiösen Lernvorgängen und Bildungsansätzen sind immer wieder ausgrenzende Mechanismen des Othering, des »Fremdmachens«, zu beobachten. Zugleich zeigt sich, dass verschiedene religionspädagogische Ansätze von unterschiedlichen Zugängen zum Thema Fremdheit ausgehen: Während die einen Fremdheitserfahrungen und individuelle religiöse Positionierungen ins Zentrum stellen, versuchen andere, »Fremdheit« zu dekonstruieren. Janosch Freuding zeigt Möglichkeiten auf, diese unterschiedlichen Auffassungen aufeinander zu beziehen und wirkungsvoll gegen Othering-Strukturen in interreligiöser Bildung vorzugehen.

    Warum verändern sich Dinge zu bestimmten Zeiten und nicht zu anderen? Die Beiträge in diesem Band betrachten diese Frage aus der Perspektive der Bedrohung. Selbstalarmierungen aus Gesellschaften oder sozialen Gruppen heraus öffnen Möglichkeitsfenster für Wandel – der oft nicht so verläuft, wie die Urheber der Alarmierung wünschen. Defined as the self-alerting which goes on within societies and social groups, threats open up windows of opportunity for change – though not always the ones hoped for by those who raised the alarm in the first place.     Kapitalismus sieht sich seit je her drei moralisch artikulierten Vorwürfen ausgesetzt: Er führe (a) zur Verelendung der Arbeiter, (b) zur Zerstörung der Umwelt und (c) zum Verfall der Sitten. Zieht man empirisch Bilanz, sind nicht alle dieser Vorwürfe berechtigt, ganz im Gegenteil: (a) Im Kapitalismus werden die Menschen, und hier insbesondere die Arbeiter, kontinuierlich reicher und leben länger, gesünder und glücklicher. (b) Mit zunehmendem Reichtum steigt die Nachfrage nach Umweltschutz, während neue Technologien die Kosten dafür sinken lassen. (c) Kapitalismus fördert Kooperationsbereitschaft und Weltoffenheit. Er stärkt das Vertrauen in Institutionen und reduziert Xenophobie. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es wichtig, zwischen berechtigter und unberechtigter Kapitalismus-Kritik zu unterscheiden und tatsächliche Missstände ordnungspolitisch anzugehen, d.h. mit einer Reform des institutionellen Ordnungsrahmens, um Märkte durch verbesserte Leistungsanreize funktionsfähig(er) zu machen – und für die gesellschaftliche Verwirklichung moralischer Anliegen besser in Dienst zu nehmen. Capitalism has always faced three normative accusations: critics claim that it leads (a) to the impoverishment of workers, (b) to the destruction of the environment, and (c) to moral decline. If one takes stock empirically, many of these accusations are not justified. (a) Under capitalism, people, especially workers, are getting richer and live longer, healthier and happier lives. (b) As wealth increases, so does the demand for environmental protection, while new technologies reduce the according costs. (c) Capitalism promotes cooperation and open-mindedness. It strengthens trust in institutions and reduces xenophobia. Against this background, it is important to distinguish between justified and unjustified criticism of capitalism and to address actual grievances with measures for an improved institutional order, i.e. with a reform of the rules of the game, thus aiming at making markets (more) functional through improved incentives – and to take them into society’s service for better realizing moral desiderata.

    Abstract: Interreligiöse Bildung versteht sich als Beitrag zum friedlichen Zusammenleben der Religionen und Weltanschauungen. Doch auch in interreligiösen Lernvorgängen und Bildungsansätzen sind immer wieder ausgrenzende Mechanismen des Othering, des "Fremdmachens", zu beobachten. Zugleich zeigt sich, dass verschiedene religionspädagogische Ansätze von unterschiedlichen Zugängen zum Thema Fremdheit ausgehen: Während die einen Fremdheitserfahrungen und individuelle religiöse Positionierungen ins Zentrum stellen, versuchen andere, "Fremdheit" zu dekonstruieren. Der Autor zeigt Möglichkeiten auf, diese unterschiedlichen Auffassungen aufeinander zu beziehen und wirkungsvoll gegen Othering-Strukturen in interreligiöser Bildung vorzugehen
