    "Out is in. In is out."1 Dies erklärt Victor, der Protagonist in Bret Easton Ellis' Glamorama, seinem Partner JD, dem DJ, vor der Eröffnung eines Clubs in New York. Eines Clubs, der sich selbstverständlich Mühe gibt, besonders 'in' zu sein. Victors Aussage ist auf den ersten Blick genauso unsinnig, wie wenn er gesagt hätte "ja ist nein und nein ist ja", er meint aber natürlich, wie er dann an anderer Stelle sagt: "The new trend is no trend."2 Letztere Aussage ist jedoch ebenfalls missverständlich, denn während Victors Zuhörer meinen, 'no trend' sei ein neuer Trend, meint Victor, dass es der neue Trend sei, keinen Trend mehr zu haben. Victors Denkweise läuft einem, wenn nicht gar dem Prinzip westlicher Philosophie zuwider, auf dem unsere Logik basiert, nämlich Aristoteles' Satz vom ausgeschlossenen Widerspruch: Es ist nicht möglich, dass A gleichzeitig A und nicht -A ist. Bezeichnenderweise entgeht Victor das Paradoxe in seiner Aussage, dem Leser jedoch nicht ...
