    "Arriving in Ottoman lands in mid-16th century, coffee came to be widely consumed by the public and the palace circles alike. It involved into an important means of socialization [in the Ottoman Empire] and attained a ceremonial character through the ways in which it was served. This book begins with the botanical characteristics of coffee, explores its places in Ottoman culture, as well as the tools and devices produced as part of that culture, sheds light upon how these found a place in art and influenced other forms of expression."
