Digital advances and the emergence of disruptive technologies have dramatically changed the business models across sectors and operations economics. The scope of this paper is to contribute to analyze the current disruptive revolution in operations management in a digitalized global market focusing on the impact of blockchain technology and IoT integration. New intelligence tools and emotional analysis are contributing to add trust and promote digital expansion across different sectors. Given the high economic impact of the operations management on virtually all productive enterprises, the benefits of digitalizing operations have continuously increased productivity and enhanced international competitiveness. This paper studies the opportunities of what could be one of the last disruptions in operations management, the introduction of blockchain combined with IoT technology and emotional intelligence tools to automate, in a cryptographically verifiable process, activities in digital supply chain networks. Keywords: Blockchain, IoT, Supply Chain Network, Operations Management, Digital Policy Funding: The research leading to these results has received funding from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through SEMOLA project (TEC2015-68284-R) and from the Autonomous Region of Madrid through MOSI-AGIL-CM project (grant P2013/ICE-3019, cofunded by EU Structural Funds FSE and FEDER).

Smart home technology, an application of Internet of Things (IoT), provides householders with e.g., comfort, control and convenience. The technology has been around for sometimes, but its prevalence is not yet widespread, and thus the potentials have largely been underestimated. This paper aims to explore the antecedent factors influencing the adoption of smart home technology through analysis of a survey data comprising of 156 households. This paper, in addition to Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), applies an analytical thinking method called "Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis" to analyse the data. The SEM results indicate that consumer perceived innovativeness, perceived newness, social influence and attitude toward using smart home technology are notable antecedents of intention to use. Moreover, the results show that the perceived cost negatively affect the intention to use. FsQCA results, while confirming SEM findings, strengthen the results by revealing that there is no single solution that lead to the outcome, but multiple configurations of conditions lead to the outcome of interest. This paper contributes to the literature of IoT, in particular to smart home research. Some practical implications and research recommendations are discussed. Keywords: Internet of Things, Smart home technology, Perceived cost, Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis

Mit Beiträgen u.a. von Natascha Adamowsky, John Seely Brown, Mercedes Bunz, Ian Bogost, Ina Bolinski, Keller Easterling, Christoph Engemann, Jennifer Gabrys, Sebastian Gießmann, Kai Hofmann, Gerrit Hornung, Sabina Jeschke, Timo Kaerlein, Linus Neumann, Jussi Parikka, Stefan Rieger, Jens Schröter, Michael Seemann, Florian Sprenger und Mark Weiser The internet of things is praised as a new step in the digitization and the future of our computer-based access to the world: invisible, smart, miniaturized, and omnipresent, gadgets and devices are supposed to pervade our everyday lives. Connecting everything with chips, tags, and sensors is transforming our relationship to technology and grants these items a new place in the world. This volume combines first-time translations of paradigmatic English texts with current analyses by German language authors, providing an overview of the current discussion about the history, epistemology, techniques, and applications of the internet of things. With contributions by Natascha Adamowsky, John Seely Brown, Mercedes Bunz, Ian Bogost, Keller Easterling, Jennifer Gabrys, Sebastian Gießmann, Kai Hofmann, Erich Hörl, Gerrit Hornung, Sabine Jeschke, Timo Kaerlein, Christoph Neubert, Linus Neumann, Jussi Parikka, Stefan Rieger, Jens Schröter, Michael Seemann, Mark Weiser and others

Foreword / Linda Robinson -- Chapter 1.Introduction -- Chapter 2. The current state of technology and digital games -- Chapter 3. Adoption, benefits and challenges of technology: Insights from citizens in northern Ireland -- Chapter 4. Technology in the role of stakeholders, social enterprise, industry, and smart-friendly ecosystems in the 21st century -- Chapter 5. "the older you get, people get less active, and then they feel the cold" -- Chapter 6. Digital inequities and society -- Chapter 7. The research environment -- Chapter 8. Not a conclusion - but a manifesto! -- Chapter 9. The journey: Author biographies and trajectories. Transgenerational Technology and Interactions for the 21st Century explores how we as humans navigate the 21st Century, interacting with technologies, including those that are intended to support and enhance our experiences across the lifespan. This manifesto, composed with humanity at the front and centre, pinpoints succinctly the critical considerations of people, technology and inequalities intersecting across our 21st century ecosystems. With a special focus on bridging interdisciplinary research, creative and co-production approaches, the authors explore and present cutting edge discourse, building on previous research to form contemporary and inform future awareness and strategies to societal experiences. The authors argue that it is time to re-evaluate how we move forward in a multi-faceted society, with the ever growing reliance of technology but yet many voices are not heard, left behind or not even considered. This creative and collaborative response is suited to researchers, academics, designers, industry and stakeholder professionals who have an interest the fields of technology, design, sociology and innovation

In addition to offering greater product choice and convenience to consumers, the IoT is expected to revolutionise the way product design, manufacturing, and product delivery processes are monitored, analysed and improved, including remotely. This report describes current and emerging IoT developments that may have implications for consumer product safety policy design and enforcement. It describes the opportunities afforded by the IoT to enhance the quality of products, help prevent consumer product safety hazards or damage, and to create better ways to manage safety in the supply chain and the marketplace. The report also draws attention to the potential for the IoT to give rise to new safety risks, and questions about whether existing liability and product safety regulatory regimes are adequate.

The “smart home” looks set to be the arena in which many people will utilise consumer-facing Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for the first time. A new generation of familiar household devices and appliances (e.g. washing machines) are becoming “smart” through the addition of sensors, software and Internet connections. They are entering the home alongside innovative IoT era devices (e.g. smart speakers) – often integrating with them to form smart residential systems (e.g. relating to energy, entertainment and home security). This report outlines the key consumer benefits and risks associated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the “smart home”. The benefits include convenience, customisation and control. However, there are potential risks for smart home residents such as data privacy and cybersecurity threats, limitations on interoperability, the need for lifetime product support, complex supply chains and liability regimes, and product safety.

The development of the Internet and its progress continues in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, despite these advances, problems related to the quality and equality of Internet access remain pending.Likewise, differences persist in Internet access between rural and urban areas, and between quintiles of income distribution. In the country with the greatest gap between urban and rural areas, the difference in penetration is 40 p.p. and the average in the region is 27 p.p. In terms of income, the gaps between the households of the richest quintile in relation to the poorest quintile reach up to 20 p.p. in some countries of the region. Summary .-- 1. Internet access and use. 1.1. Access. 1.2. Use .-- 2. Digitization of production. 2.1. Robotics and automation. 2.2. Internet of Things (IoT).
