    Das Buch versteht sich als Fortsetzung des 2003 bei Herder-Spektrum erschienenen Ratgebers vom selben Autor ("Kinder machen gerne Musik", BA 10/03). Der Schwerpunkt liegt hier in der Vermittlung von Motivationskompetenzen, die Musikschülern aus Übekrisen heraushelfen und die Freude am Musizieren erhalten sollen. In 5 Kapiteln greift der Autor Ursachen auf, die für nachlassende Musizierfreude verantwortlich sein können und beschreibt Wege zur Lösung der Probleme. Anhand vieler Beispiele aus der Praxis wird gezeigt, wo Bedarf besteht, Soforthilfe möglich ist und langfristig Erfolg gesichert werden kann. Als gleichermaßen erfahrener Musikdidaktiker und Vater richtet sich sein Buch an Musikschullehrer wie an Eltern. Ein Fragenkatalog zur Überprüfung des eigenen Unterrichts beschließt das Buch.
