    Der vorliegende Sammelband, der Uta Quasthoffs Werk zu ihrem 65. Geburtstages würdigt, will einen Einblick in die Reichhaltigkeit linguistischer Erzählforschung geben. Die zwei zentralen Schwerpunkte sind das mündliche Erzählen und seine Einbettung in sprachliche Interaktionen sowie der Erwerb von Erzählfähigkeiten als Teil umfassenderer diskursiver Kompetenzen.Das Erzählen als Teil alltäglicher Interaktionen wird in verschiedenen Aspekten beleuchtet: Seine Inhalte reichen von der Rekonstruktion des nächtlichen Traums über die Darstellung eigener Erfahrung bis hin zur Lebensgeschichte. Seine soziale Funktion zeigt sich, wenn die eigene Position von anderen abgesetzt und eine "narrative Identität" präsentiert wird. Dabei verweist die Varianz der erzählerischen Form auch auf ästhetischen Dimensionen literarischen Erzählens.Eine besondere Funktion hat das Erzählen für den Erwerb diskursiver Kompetenzen. Hier spielt es als Medium und Gegenstand des Erwerbsprozesses eine zentrale Rolle. Beobachtungen zu alltäglichen Formen kindlichen Erzählens können als Ressourcen für didaktische Konzeptionen angesehen werden oder eine Brücke bauen zwischen dem mündlichen Erzählen und seiner schriftlichen Form als Beginn der literalen Textentwicklung
