    Biographical note: Elena Sánchez López, Universität Alicante, Spanien. Since its first publication, in 1593, the beauty of the verses by the Valencian poet Ausiàs March have constituted a challenge for its readers. In this study we carry on an analysis on the Poet's language using an innovative methodology in the field of literary studies: analysis of the word combinations ?collocations? with the support of ICT. Among the results provided by this analysis we find the differentiation between collocations forming part of the author’s style and collocations belonging to the general language of his age (phraseology).

Dabei steht im Vordergrund, wie bekannte und neue Korpora für die Untersuchung verschiedenster linguistischer Fragestellungen, z.B. der Lexikografie, der Gesprächsforschung, des Spracherwerbs oder der historischen Sprachwissenschaft, genutzt werden können. Im Einzelnen geht es um: Korpusangebote und Korpusdesign Software für die Arbeit mit Korpora Korpusaufbereitung den Zusammenhang von Korpusaufbereitung und Forschungsfragestellungen ethisch-rechtliche Aspekte der Arbeit mit Korpora Anwendungs- und Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von Korpora Diese Fragen werden im Kontext wissenschaftstheoretischer Überlegungen zur Frage des Nutzens von Korpora für die linguistische Erkenntnisbildung behandelt. Es werden dabei sowohl klassische Schrift- und Tonkorpora, als auch Korpora mit Daten aus anderen Medialitäten (Video und Social Media) vorgestellt. Eine weitere Dimension sind Vergleichskorpora mehrerer Sprachen oder Medialitäten (mündlich vs. schriftlich) sowie diachrone (Vergleichs-)Korpora und der Blick auf nicht-deutschsprachige Korpusangebote The contributions to the 2022 annual conference of the Institute for German Language collected in this volume provide an overview of current developments in the indexing and use of corpora, i.e. collections of authentic language data, in German linguistics and beyond. Anhand von etwa 40 Indien-Reiseberichten, die sich als Kreuzungspunkt diverser um 1900 virulenter Diskurse darstellen und bisher kaum erforscht sind, rekonstruiert und analysiert Maria Hinzmann etwa 150 Topoi. Aus der Perspektive einer kulturwissenschaftlich orientierten Literaturwissenschaft und mit Anleihen aus der Korpuslinguistik liefert sie eine bahnbrechende Neugrundlegung der Topik, deren transdisziplinäres Potential bis in die Digital Humanities reicht

    Biographical note: Elena Sánchez López, Universität Alicante, Spanien. Since its first publication, in 1593, the beauty of the verses by the Valencian poet Ausiàs March have constituted a challenge for its readers. In this study we carry on an analysis on the Poet's language using an innovative methodology in the field of literary studies: analysis of the word combinations ?collocations? with the support of ICT. Among the results provided by this analysis we find the differentiation between collocations forming part of the author’s style and collocations belonging to the general language of his age (phraseology).

    The book specifies a corpus architecture, including annotation and querying techniques, and its implementation. The corpus architecture is developed for empirical studies of translations, and beyond those for the study of texts which are inter-lingually comparable, particularly texts of similar registers. The compiled corpus, CroCo, is a resource for research and is, with some copyright restrictions, accessible to other research projects. Most of the research was undertaken as part of a DFG-Project into linguistic properties of translations. Fundamentally, this research project was a corpus-based investigation into the language pair English-German. The long-term goal is a contribution to the study of translation as a contact variety, and beyond this to language comparison and language contact more generally with the language pair English - German as our object languages. This goal implies a thorough interest in possible specific properties of translations, and beyond this in an empirical translation theory.The methodology developed is not restricted to the traditional exclusively system-based comparison of earlier days, where real-text excerpts or constructed examples are used as mere illustrations of assumptions and claims, but instead implements an empirical research strategy involving structured data (the sub-corpora and their relationships to each other, annotated and aligned on various theoretically motivated levels of representation), the formation of hypotheses and their operationalizations, statistics on the data, critical examinations of their significance, and interpretation against the background of system-based comparisons and other independent sources of explanation for the phenomena observed. Further applications of the resource developed in computational linguistics are outlined and evaluated

    Des de la primera publicació, el 1593, la bellesa dels versos del poeta valencià Ausiàs March ha representat un repte per als lectors. En aquest estudi hem dut a terme una anàlisi del llenguatge del poeta mitjançant una metodologia innovadora pel que fa a la literatura: l'anàlisi de les combinacions de paraules -col·locacions- amb l'ajuda de les TIC. A partir d'un corpus marcat estructuralment, morfosintàcticament i lematitzat, hem fet una extracció automàtica de les col·locacions de l'obra de March amb l'ajuda d'un motor de cerca optimitzat per a treballar en català antic. Així, tenint en compte les combinacions de categories més freqüents en aquesta llengua, hem obtingut llistats complets de col·locacions -en sentit ampli, com les definia Sinclair en els seus primers treballs-. Posteriorment, hem fet servir un corpus de control per a contextualitzar-les i descriure'n l'ús, cosa que ens ha permés determinar si les combinacions freqüents detectades pertanyien específicament a l'autor -eren part del seu estil-, o a la llengua general de la seua època -com a part de la fraseologia. El nostre estudi ens ha permés constatar les dificultats de l'estudi de la fraseologia en la llengua antiga, així com la productivitat de l'anàlisi col·locacional del llenguatge d'un autor Since their first publication in 1593, the complexity and beauty of the verses by Valencian poet Ausiàs March have constituted a challenge for his readers. In this study we present an analysis of the poet's language using an innovative methodology in the field of literary studies: the analysis of word combinations - collocations - with the support of ICT. Based on a structurally/morphosyntactically-tagged, lemmatized corpus, we carried out an automatic extraction of the collocations in March's work by means of a search engine optimized to work with the Old Catalan language. Thus, on the basis of the more frequent characteristic patterns of this language, we were able to obtain complete lists of collocations - in a broad sense, as defined by Sinclair in his first research studies. Subsequently, we used a control corpus in order to contextualize them and describe their usage, which allowed us to establish whether the frequent combinations found belong specifically to the author - as an intrinsic part of his style -, or to the general linguistic usage of his age - as part of established Old Catalan phraseology. Our research showed us the difficulties of studying the phraseology of old languages, as well as the productivity of the collocational analysis of an author's language

    Die gezielte und sorgfältig dokumentierte Nutzung vorhandener Ressourcen gehört ebenso zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten wie die konsequente Entwicklung eigener Ansätze, die zu neuen Erkenntnissen führen. Im Studium bleibt oft wenig Zeit, diese Fragen ausführlich zu behandeln. Das Arbeitsheft setzt hier daher mit einer Orientierung für die zielgerichtete Auswertung wissenschaftlicher Textsorten und für die Beurteilung ihrer Zitierfähigkeit an. Außerdem wird zur Erarbeitung eigener Texte angeleitet, wie sie im Studium verlangt werden, damit perspektivisch auch größere Forschungsvorhaben gelingen. Dafür wird der Weg von der Themenklärung bis zum fertigen Text bzw. zur fertigen Präsentation nachgezeichnet. Es werden typische Probleme der Erstlingswerke besprochen und die Besonderheit des "Sprechens über Sprache" erläutert.Im zweiten Teil des Arbeitsheftes wird in das Arbeiten mit Sprachzeugnissen eingeführt. Angesichts der leichten Verfügbarkeit von Text- und Tondokumenten wird bereits in frühen Studienphasen die Arbeit mit Primärquellen erwartet. Das Arbeitsheft vermittelt terminologische und methodische Grundkenntnisse der Editionsphilologie, der Erhebung von Sprachdaten und der Arbeit mit Korpora auf Basis von romanistischen Beispielen
