    This is the first book entirely dedicated to cinematographic adaptations of the golden age of comedy. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the author analyses ten films and offers a journey through the history of cinema which allows the reader to understand how, over the past hundred years, readers of different ideologies and nations have approached baroque theatre and rewritten it at will. The results invite us to reflect not only on the power of the screen to celebrate (or cast into oblivion) what was once a mass spectacle, and also the attitude that specialists should take towards these kinds of productions
