    Von der Erfindung des Kinematographen 1895 bis zum Ende der Stummfilmära in den 1930er Jahren wandelte sich der Film von einer technischen Attraktion zu einer bis heute ebenso populären wie ästhetisch umstrittenen Kunstform. Stefan Priester rekonstruiert die Entwicklung der Filmkunst und der sie begleitenden filmästhetischen Kontroversen aus differenzierungstheoretischer Perspektive als Genese einer Weltkunst. Er zeigt, dass Filmkunst nicht als Durchsetzung künstlerischer Autonomie gegenüber externen Einflüssen entsteht. Konstitutiv für die Ausdifferenzierung der Filmkunst und ihrer Reflexionstheorie ist vielmehr der Rückgriff auf wechselnde Anlehnungskontexte wie Wirtschaft und Unterhaltung

Um zu verstehen, was Kunst ist, muss sie jedoch als spezifische Situationen konstituierende besondere Praxis untersucht werden. Kunst ist kein Erkennen oder Erfahren, sondern strategisches Tun: Als (feierliches) ästhetisches Sorgen kultiviert sie in öffentlichen wie privaten Kontexten eine Praxis existenziellen kultischen Sorgens. Christian Zürner hinterfragt ästhetische Topoi wie Autonomie und (Zweck-)Freiheit angesichts solch immanenter Notwendigkeit ebenso wie normative philosophische Zuschreibungen. Kunst bedeutet keinen souveränen Überschuss, sondern lebt vom Drang, menschliche Existenz in einer unheimlichen Welt überhaupt erst einzurichten

Die heterogenen Beiträge streiten um Macht und Schwäche der Kunst, um die Aktualität von Schönheit, um das (Un-)Politische von Reflexion und Partizipation, um die Rolle der Kunstkritik sowie um die Behauptung einer Politik der Kunst Where participatory art projects today clearly oppose an autonomous aesthetic, the question of the relationship between art and society - which in European schools of thought has been the source of competing and often antagonistic arguments for over 200 years - takes on renewed relevance. When the Cultural Revolution officially began, this uniformity seemed to extend to the mind. From the outside, this was a monotonous world, full of repetitions and imitation, but a closer look reveals a range of cultural experiences, which also provided individuals with an obscure sense of freedom. In The Art of Cloning, Pang Laikwan examines this period in Chinese history when ordinary citizens read widely, travelled extensively through the country, and engaged in a range of cultural and artistic activities. The freedom they experienced, argues Pang, differs from the freedom, under Western capitalism, to express individuality through a range of consumer products. However, it was far from boring, and filled with its own kind of diversity"...

In her cultural-philosophical critique, Hanne Laceulle outlines counter narratives that acknowledge both potentials and vulnerabilities of later life. She draws on the rich philosophical tradition of thought about self-realization and explores the significance of ethical concepts essential to the process of growing old such as autonomy, authenticity and virtue. Stefan Priester rekonstruiert die Entwicklung der Filmkunst und der sie begleitenden filmästhetischen Kontroversen aus differenzierungstheoretischer Perspektive als Genese einer Weltkunst. Er zeigt, dass Filmkunst nicht als Durchsetzung künstlerischer Autonomie gegenüber externen Einflüssen entsteht. Konstitutiv für die Ausdifferenzierung der Filmkunst und ihrer Reflexionstheorie ist vielmehr der Rückgriff auf wechselnde Anlehnungskontexte wie Wirtschaft und Unterhaltung.

Kunst ist kein Erkennen oder Erfahren, sondern strategisches Tun: Als (feierliches) ästhetisches Sorgen kultiviert sie in öffentlichen wie privaten Kontexten eine Praxis existenziellen kultischen Sorgens. Christian Zürner hinterfragt ästhetische Topoi wie Autonomie und (Zweck-)Freiheit angesichts solch immanenter Notwendigkeit ebenso wie normative philosophische Zuschreibungen. Kunst bedeutet keinen souveränen Überschuss, sondern lebt vom Drang, menschliche Existenz in einer unheimlichen Welt überhaupt erst einzurichten
