    The present volume in the ongoing historical-critical edition of Ferdinand von Saar's works is devoted to "Ginevra" and casts interesting new light on the interpretation of his works. The Erzählung projects the age-old theme of appearance and reality onto the backdrop of the Biedermeier period and its attitudes on morality. An anachronistic concept of ideal love is counterpointed with an abundance of symbolic references ranging from medieval Minne through the Italian Renaissance up to Russian realism. Exceptionally, the manuscript of the work is extant and is reproduced here in all its stages (fully indexed and documented). Der vorliegende Band der historisch-kritischen Saar-Ausgabe "Ginevra" bietet neue aufschlußreiche und ergänzende Aspekte für das Verständnis Ferdinand von Saars. Die Erzählung spiegelt das alte Thema von Schein und Sein vor dem Hintergrund der Zeit- und Moralgeschichte der Biedermeierzeit wider. Ein unzeitgemäßes Liebesideal wird verwoben mit symbolischen Bezügen, die von der mittelalterlichen hohen Minne über die italienische Renaissance bis zum russischen Realismus reichen.     With "Hymen", the ongoing historical-critical edition of Ferdinand von Saar's works arrives at the output from the author's old age. Physically ailing and frequently assailed by bouts of resignation, the Viennese author (1833-1906) was preoccupied even at this late stage with the subject of adolescent development and the choice of soul-mates. The text-critical apparatus and the history of the author's treatment of the material centre on the genesis of this Erzählung. The interpretation demonstrates that "Hymen" interweaves the intellectual, scientific and social currents prevalent in turn-of-the-century Vienna with a large number of topoi culled from the history of ideas. Mit >>Hymen<< liegt in der historisch-kritischen Edition der Werke Ferdinand von Saars (1833-1906) erstmals ein Spätwerk des Dichters vor. Körperlich leidend und oftmals resigniert beschäftigte sich der Wiener Dichter auch im Alter noch mit dem Thema jugendlicher Reifung und Partnerwahl. Ein textkritischer Apparat sowie die Darlegung der Stoffgeschichte gehen besonders auf die Entstehung der Erzählung ein. Die Deutung zeigt, daß in >>Hymen<< sowohl die geistigen, wissenschaftlichen und sozialen Strömungen im Wien der Jahrhundertwende als auch vielzählige geistesgeschichtliche Stoffe zum Tragen kommen.. - With "Hymen", the ongoing historical-critical edition of Ferdinand von Saar's works arrives at the output from the author's old age.     The ninth volume of the historical-critical edition of the works of Ferdinand von Saar contains the two narratives "Dissonanzen" and "Die Familie Worel" (published 1900 and 1905 respectively). Both works are presented in the text of the manuscript and with full accompanying critical apparatus. The interpretation concentrates on the author's artistic methods and the socio-political background. It transpires that in his final years von Saar (1833-1906) attempted to overcome what was for him an extremely painful discrepancy between tradition and modernity by resorting to a superordinate poetological ploy: the character of Graf Erwin appears in the two stories both as narrator and as protagonist, thus representing a referential figure for the political and poetological tensions rampant around the turn of the century. Nationalism and socialism appear as the motive forces operative in this period, but in Saar's vision the individual is not freed of his accountability in the face of history. He remains responsible both for his deeds and his words. Der neunte Band der historisch-kritischen Saar-Ausgabe vereinigt die zwei Erzählungen >>Dissonanzen<< und >>Die Familie Worel<< (erschienen 1900 bzw. 1905). Beide Werke werden auch im Text der Handschrift mit integralem Apparat wiedergegeben. Die Deutung konzentriert sich auf die künstlerischen Darstellungsmittel und die sozialpolitischen Bezüge. Es zeigt sich, daß Ferdinand von Saar (1833-1906) in seinen letzten Lebensjahren versucht hat, den für ihn so schmerzlichen Zwiespalt zwischen Tradition und Moderne in einem werkübergreifenden poetischen Konzept zu überbrücken: Die Figur des Grafen Erwin, die beiden Erzählungen angehört, wird sowohl handelnd als auch erzählend eingesetzt und stellt damit eine Referenzfigur für die politischen und poetologischen Spannungen der Jahrhundertwende dar.     The present volume in the ongoing historical-critical edition of Ferdinand von Saar's works is devoted to "Ginevra" and casts interesting new light on the interpretation of his works. The Erzählung projects the age-old theme of appearance and reality onto the backdrop of the Biedermeier period and its attitudes on morality. An anachronistic concept of ideal love is counterpointed with an abundance of symbolic references ranging from medieval Minne through the Italian Renaissance up to Russian realism. Exceptionally, the manuscript of the work is extant and is reproduced here in all its stages (fully indexed and documented). Der vorliegende Band der historisch-kritischen Saar-Ausgabe "Ginevra" bietet neue aufschlußreiche und ergänzende Aspekte für das Verständnis Ferdinand von Saars. Die Erzählung spiegelt das alte Thema von Schein und Sein vor dem Hintergrund der Zeit- und Moralgeschichte der Biedermeierzeit wider. Ein unzeitgemäßes Liebesideal wird verwoben mit symbolischen Bezügen, die von der mittelalterlichen hohen Minne über die italienische Renaissance bis zum russischen Realismus reichen.
