    Was sind die Voraussetzungen für einen erfolgreichen Dialog der Kulturen? Aus psychologischer Sicht sind es einerseits die Bereitschaft zum Dialog und andererseits die Fähigkeit und Kompetenz, einen solchen Dialog führen zu können. Hinzu kommt ein notwendiges gemeinsames Interesse der Partner an einem Dialog, der offensichtliche Nutzen, den der Dialog für die Partner beinhalten muss, das Geben und Nehmen beider Seiten im Dialog sowie ein dialogförderndes gesellschaftliches, politisches und soziales Umfeld. Die einzelnen Beiträge diskutieren die Bedingungen, Grundlagen und die Qualifizierung zum interkulturellen Dialog auf der Basis von empirischen Forschungsbefunden und Praxiserfahrungen auf verschiedenen Handlungsfeldern. Die Autoren untersuchen die Psychologie interkultureller Rhetorik und den Aspekt der interreligiösen Kompetenz. Daneben gehen sie auf die Entwicklung von der interkulturellen Begegnung zur interkulturellen Kompetenz in sogenannten Dialog-Räumen in der Schule, auf kooperatives Lernen und auf den interkulturellen Dialog in europäischen und internationalen Jugendbegegnungen ein. Weitere Schwerpunkte der Analysen sind der interkulturelle Dialog in Integrationsprogrammen für Migranten, in Organisationen, multikulturellen Trainings, Assessment-Centern sowie sein Potenzial als wirtschaftlicher Erfolgsfaktor.
