Die Einhaltung regulatorischer Anforderungen in Geschäftsprozessen (sog. Business Process Compliance) ist in vielen Branchen durch zunehmende Regulation zur kostenintensiven Aufgabe geworden. Damit Unternehmen trotzdem profitabel arbeiten können, bedarf es Ansätze zur wirtschaftlichen Bewertung, Analyse und Auswahl prozessbasierter Compliance-Maßnahmen. Die vorliegende Dissertation adressiert diesen Bedarf durch die Konzeption, Implementation und Evaluation (a) eines mathematischen Ansatzes zur wirtschaftlichen Bewertung von Business Process Compliance basierend auf den grundlegenden Kontrollflussmustern von Geschäftsprozessen (sog. Basic Control Flow Patterns) und (b) eines IT-gestützten Ansatzes zur wirtschaftlichen Analyse und Auswahl prozessbasierter Compliance-Maßnahmen basierend auf domänenspezifischen Protokolldateien (sog. Extensible Event Streams). Aufbauend auf einer Design-Theorie werden die Ansätze prototypisch implementiert und sowohl quantitativ als auch qualitativ evaluiert. In many industries, compliance with regulatory requirements in business processes, or so-called business process compliance, has become a cost-intensive task due to continually intensified regulation. For companies to operate profitably despite such intensive regulation, approaches to the economic assessment, analysis, and selection of process-based compliance measures are needed. This dissertation addresses that need by designing, implementing, and evaluating: (a) A mathematical approach for the economic assessment of business process compliance based on patterns of basic control flows of business processes (i.e., basic control flow patterns); and (b) An information technology-based approach for the economic analysis and selection of process-based compliance measures based on domain-specific log files (i.e., extensible event streams). Based on a design theory, the approaches are implemented as software prototypes and evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively.
