Zusammenfassung: Technological progress in telecommunications and computer technologies has brought with it a digitalization that, nowadays, permeates almost all areas of human life. New data sources appear constantly, ranging from smart watches to household appliances to cars and other cyber-physical systems and new data is generated abundantly, in structured and unstructured form. Among the different classes of data, in particular personal data has emerged as a crucial source of innovation and value. Consequently, in the wake of this development, so-called data-centric business models have emerged. Companies pursuing these data-centric business models, such as Facebook or Google, rely almost exclusively on aggregation and analysis of personal data as income source.In data-centric business, however, a conflict between the benefits and threats associated with the collection and analysis of personal data comes to light.
