    Im aktuellen islamisch-religionspädagogischen Diskurs ist ein Abschied von der traditionellen Art der Wissensvermittlung nach dem inhaltsorientierten Konzept und die Zuwendung zu einem reflektierten Lernprozess, der die Subjekte und ihre Lebenswelten ernst nimmt, evident.Dieser Paradigmenwechsel in der islamischen religiösen Bildung hat bestimmte Konsequenzen – auch für die Korandidaktik, die einen wesentlichen Bestandteil des islamischen Religionsunterrichts bildet. Die Autorin nimmt diese Problematik zum Anlass und untersucht in einem interdisziplinären Rahmen die offenbarungs- bzw. schrifttheologischen und die hermeneutisch-exegetischen Voraussetzungen einer subjektorientierten und kontextsensiblen Koranarbeit. In Auseinandersetzung mit diesen und weiteren zentralen Fragen liefert die Studie die ersten wichtigen Ergebnisse für die religionspädagogische sowie die hermeneutisch-theologische Grundlegung einer zeitgemäßen Korandidaktik.

    Dieses Buch tritt an gegen die Eindringlichkeit postmoderner Anrufungen und ihre rationalen Allmachtsphantasien. Seit der Zeit der Aufklärung möchte Theologie Glaube und Vernunft zusammenbringen. Dabei setzt sie meist ein Menschenbild voraus, demzufolge das Subjekt als ein grundlegend rationales und vernunftbegabtes Wesen erscheint. Vor dem Hintergrund poststrukturaler und psychoanalytischer Erkenntnisse wird dieses Subjektverständnis grundlegend hinterfragt. Es wird die These vertreten, dass der Mensch in einer Anrufung steht, die sich mit den Mitteln der Vernunft allein nicht durchdringen lässt. Immer bleibt ein Riss im Subjekt, den die Theologie und vor allem die Religionspädagogik bei ihren Bildungs- und Vermittlungsbemühungen an zentraler Stelle berücksichtigen sollte. This book takes on the forcefulness of post-modernist appeals and their rational fantasies of omnipotence. Since the Enlightenment, theology has sought to bring faith and reason together. In doing so, it usually presupposes an image of the human being that understands the subject as a fundamentally rational being. Against the background of post-structural and psychoanalytical insights, the book wants to fundamentally question this understanding of the subject. It argues that the human being stands in an invocation that drives him and just cannot be appropriately penetrated with the means of reason. There is always a rift in the subject, which theology and especially religious education should take into account in their educational and mediation efforts.

    Regardless of what method is chosen for formal religious education, the fundamental principle of all catechetical activity in the Catholic Church is fidelity to the Word of God and the concrete needs of the faithful. This article will argue, however, that fidelity to the Word of God falls short of the requirements of the Catholic Church in the three religious education curriculum schemes that dominate current religious education in Australia and England and Wales. Utilising a set of "best practice" principles drawn from documents of the Catholic Church and developed by the author in an unpublished doctoral thesis this article identifies and describes practices which misrepresent and distort Scripture. In its own terms, good hermeneutics should be a priority for Catholic religious education. This article reveals significant hermeneutical problems with prominent Catholic religious education programmes in three countries.

    This article provides an overview of the prevalence, definitions, manifestations and causes of Islamist radicalisation as well as possible approaches to counteracting it preventively and interventively. First, an overview is given of the potential of Islamist radicalised persons in Germany. The estimate is made on the basis of an overview of radical groups with an Islamist orientation and their potential number of persons. Overall, the difficulty in estimating the number of radicalised people is also due to the fact that it is difficult to define and clearly delimit the concept of Islamist radicality or radicalisation as well as Islamist extremism or terrorism. In a second large block, the course of radicalisation is traced using different models, but theoretical explanations for radicalisation are also presented. Overall, the causes are located at the micro level (such as personality traits, identity conflicts), the meso level (such as family and friendship socialisation experiences) and the macro level (such as Islamophobia and racism). In the presentation of the approaches against Islamist radicalisation, a special focus is placed on the importance of Islamic religious education. This is also the focus of the UWIT project, which asks lecturers and students at the Institutes of Islamic Theology about their assessments of how teaching can have a preventive effect.

    We study whether compulsory religious education in schools affects students’ religiosity as adults. We exploit the staggered termination of compulsory religious education across German states in models with state and cohort fixed effects. Using three different datasets, we find that abolishing compulsory religious education significantly reduced religiosity of affected students in adulthood. It also reduced the religious actions of personal prayer, church-going, and church membership. Beyond religious attitudes, the reform led to more equalized gender roles, fewer marriages and children, and higher labor-market participation and earnings. The reform did not affect ethical and political values or non-religious school outcomes.

    Special Religious Education (SRE) classes are held in New South Wales public primary schools weekly. This article is built on a review of SRE classes based on Anglican past experiences to develop recommendations to ameliorate shortcomings and enhance their quality and value in New South Wales public primary schools in a post-secular society. The research was a literature study and evaluative interpretation of Anglican SRE in New South Wales from the newly emerged post-secular context. It described and discussed the history of SRE and education in New South Wales: making a contextual inquiry into the history of such education in a secular society. It used a qualitative approach to describe and interpret historical interview responses of Anglican adults about their experiences as students in SRE classes while attending New South Wales public primary schools. Three meta-themes arose from their experiences: a space for questioning; the importance of relationship and the temporal experience of SRE lessons. Recommendations to improve and deepen the SRE curriculum were made as a result of these responses, and a possible pedagogical framework to work on improving both the curriculum and learning experiences of students in SRE was suggested. This research confirmed an expectation that there will be religion and Christian teaching within the secular education system to embed virtues, values and ethics into Australian society; it is in programmes, such as SRE, children can question the way we live and act, develop a sense of belonging and a sense that they matter. It also showed that the current way is not the most conducive model for this to occur. Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: In the context of the secular/non-religious public reflex in Australian society there are conflicting views in the community about the place of SRE in government schools. In this context, it is critical that Christian educators can support their claims of the continued value and role of SRE.

Im Artikel werden Motivation und Relevanz mehrperspektivisch und in religionsdidaktischer Absicht beleuchtet. Die Rezeption nichttheologischer Relevanz- und Motivationsmodelle kann Anregungen zur Selbstaufklärung und Weiterentwicklung des Religionsunterrichts geben. Motivation and relevance are indispensable for religious learning and education processes and the acceptance of religious education. In the article, motivation and relevance are examined from several perspectives and in terms of religious education. It is shown that the reception of non-theological models of relevance and motivation can provide suggestions for self-enlightenment and further development of religious education.

    Der Beitrag argumentiert, dass der gegenwärtig zu beobachtende gesellschaftliche Mediatisierungsschub, der mit den digitalen Medien eng verknüpft ist, zu Entgrenzungen kommunikativen Handelns von Jugend und Jugendkulturen führt. Auf pädagogische Felder, z. B. die Schule, ist in den letzten Jahren der Druck gewachsen, diese sozio-medialen Veränderungen verstärkt zu berücksichtigen. Einer Medienbildung, die Geltung entlang der gesamten Bildungskette hat, geht es dabei prominent um die pädagogische Thematisierung des jugendlichen Medienalltags. Dabei ist der Umgang von Jugendlichen mit privaten Daten im Social Web ein aktuelles Beispiel dafür, dass die Entgrenzungen kommunikativen Handelns auch zunehmend relevant für religionspädagogische Zusammenhänge sind. This article argues that the current increase in mediatization, which is closely linked with digital media, leads to the blurring of boundaries of communicative actions performed by adolescents and by youth cultures. In recent years, pedagogical arenas (such as schools) are under growing pressure to consider these socio-medial changes more strongly. If media education wants to be relevant along the whole educational chain, it needs to deal pedagogically with the everyday media routines of youth. The ways in which adolescents handle private data on the social web is a current example which shows that the blurring of boundaries within the field of communicative actions is becoming increasingly relevant for contexts of religious education.

Er fokussiert existentielle Fluchterfahrungen und ihre religiösen Deutungshorizonte, um eine Kultur der wechselseitigen Anerkennung und Akzeptanz zu befördern. Im Zentrum steht eine Didaktik des Perspektivenwechsels, die zunächst die Wahrnehmungen zum Thema Flucht verlangsamt, kontrastiert und irritiert, um die Problematik der Sichtbarkeit von Flüchtlingen in ihrer Individualität und Identitätssuche zu reflektieren. Sodann werden biographische, literarische und biblische Erzählkontexte zu den Motivfeldern Exodus, Flucht und Gewalt, Heimatverlust und neue Heimat, radikale Entsicherung, Warten, Gottesfrage und Fluchterfahrungen verschränkt, um die narrative Identität und die Deutungs- und Ausdruckskompetenz in diesem Zusammenhang zu erweitern. The article deals with the placement of the topics ‚escape‘ and ‚migration‘ in religious education. It focusses on existential experiences of escape and their religious interpretation in order to promote a culture of acceptance and appreciation. It is of central interest to develop the ability to change perspectives, first by challenging and unsettling the perceptions of escape in an esthetically manner and later to reflect the awareness of the refugees' individuality. In a second step, biographical, literary and biblical narratives are examined according to the motives ‚exodus‘, ‚escape and violence‘, ‚forced displacement‘, ‚radical uncertainty‘, and ‚the question of god‘. The aim is to support narrative identity and the competence of interpretation, faculty of speech and understanding.
