This book examines translanguaging as a resource which can disrupt the privileging of particular voices, and a social practice which enables collaboration within and across groups of people. Addressing the themes of collaboration and transformation, the chapters critically examine how people work together to catalyse change in diverse global contexts, experiences and traditions. The authors suggest an epistemological and methodological turn to the study of translanguaging, which is particularly reflected in the collaborative, arts-based and action research/activist approaches followed in the chapters. The book will be of particular interest to scholars using ethnographic, critical and collaborative action and activist research approaches to the study of multilingualism in educational and creative arts contexts

Angaben zur beteiligten Person Baumann: Prof. Dr. Uwe Baumann lehrt Anglistik/Amerikanistik: Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft an der Universität Bonn. Angaben zur beteiligten Person Youkhana: PD Dr Eva Youkhana teaches Anthropology and Migration Studies at the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn and leads the Cuban-German School for Interdisciplinary Development Studies. This volume addresses processes of human mobility in times of crisis from different scientific perspectives and at a global and trans-regional level. The first part sets out to discuss established paradigms in migration studies and politics in order to suggest new approaches to analyse mobility, migration and to challenge boundary making approaches. The second part presents empirical cases from Latin America and Spain to demonstrate how migrants challenge, negotiate and mobilize citizenship and belonging. The third part deals with the question how belonging is produced and identity is constructed at a transnational level. New information and communication technologies, human mobility but also the mobility of concepts, ideas and values foster these collectivization processes across and within physical and symbolic borders.

; The purpose of this article is to critically reflect upon current translation practices in the context of qualitative social research from the perspectives of both social science and translation science. This article connects epistemological issues with methodological aspects and experiences from daily project work—fully being aware of the tensions that arise when connecting these approaches. After describing the most challenging issues, methodological recommendations and guidelines for quality assurance are elaborated which can be understood as a supportive tool for qualitative research practice and as a basis for further discussion. This article brings insights from translation science into empirical practice in social science and thus contributes to improving the quality of translation processes in qualitative research.
