    Die öffentliche Debatte um die Integration von Migrantinnen und Migranten fokussiert sich schnell ausschließlich auf "Muslime", bei denen es angeblich besonderer Bemühungen bedarf. Muslime werden im öffentlichen Diskurs oft als homogene Gruppe pauschalisiert und mit Fremd- und Anderssein in Verbindung gebracht. Wie sieht es im akademischen Feld der Islamwissenschaften aus? Wer genau gerät in den Blick von Islamforschern und -forscherinnen? Was gilt als wissenswert, was wird ausgeblendet? Welche Fakten gelangen an eine breitere Öffentlichkeit? Welche Grundhaltungen liegen der Wissensproduktion zu Grunde und welchen Einfluss haben sie auf wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse? Ziel des Sammelbandes ist es, Vorannahmen über den Islam sichtbar zu machen. Das Buch fragt dabei nicht nach der Haltbarkeit von Hypothesen, sondern konzentriert sich darauf, wie Wissen über den Islam zustande kommt. Kritik wird an quantitativen Wissensbeständen geübt, welche zu stark auf Zahlen und Fakten basierten und somit eine vermeintlich homogene Gruppe vermessen würden. Oft würden Gemeinsamkeiten weniger beachtet und es käme zu einer Art "Othering" von Muslimen. Zudem wird im Buch ein zu starkes Gewicht des Nationalstaats als Ausgangspunkt von Studien bemängelt. Translokale Gegebenheiten würden dadurch ausgeblendet. Der Zusammenhang zwischen Herkunft und Muslimsein würde von Islamwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftlern oft nicht ausreichend untersucht.     One of the theoretical tensions that has arisen from Anthropocene studies is what Dipesh Chakrabarty has called the 'two figures of the human', and the question of which of these two figures of the human inheres in the concept of the Anthropocene more. On the one hand, the Human is conceived as the universal reasoning subject upon whom political rights and equality are based, and on the other hand, humankind is the collection of all individuals of our species, with all of the inequalities, differences, and variability inherent in any species category. This chapter takes up Deborah Coen's argument that Chakrabarty's claim of the 'incommensurability' of these two figures of the human ignores the way both were constructed within debates over how to relate local geophysical specificities to theoretical generalities. This chapter examines two cases in the history of science. The first is Martin Rudwick's historical exploration of how geologists slowly gained the ability to use fossils and highly local stratigraphic surveys to reconstruct the history of the Earth in deep time, rather than resort to speculative cosmological theory. The second is Coen's own history of imperial, Austrian climate science, a case where early nineteenth-century assumptions about the capriciousness of the weather gave way to theories of climate informed by thermodynamics and large-scale data collection.

    The panel data of the Brazilian Monthly Employment Survey - Pesquisa Mensal de Emprego (PME/IBGE) is actually one of the richest datasets for analysis of labor market in Brazil. The reason is its longitudinal design. Since it is only addressed to labor market investigations, its questionnaire fields only information related to labor income though, not considering other types of income sources, such as pensions, retirement benefits, social transfers etc. Given such a limitation, this paper presents a proposal to improve PME`s utility. This proposal consists of imputing non-labor income at PME, based on an equation system estimated by means of the Brazilian Household Survey - Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (Pnad/IBGE). Besides describing this imputation model and its consistency in reproducing the same statistics at both PME and Pnad, the paper presents some stylized facts on the dynamics of poverty and inequality in Brazilian Metropolitan Regions (MRs). Due to their dynamic feature, it is indeed impossible to estimate these facts using another Brazilian data that not the imputed PME. Our results basically regard the following issues: seasonality and tendency of poverty and inequality; rates of transition into and out of poverty; and comparison between the incidence rates of chronic poverty and observed poverty.

Muslime werden im öffentlichen Diskurs oft als homogene Gruppe pauschalisiert und mit Fremd- und Anderssein in Verbindung gebracht. Wie sieht es im akademischen Feld der Islamwissenschaften aus? Wer genau gerät in den Blick von Islamforschern und -forscherinnen? Was gilt als wissenswert, was wird ausgeblendet? Welche Fakten gelangen an eine breitere Öffentlichkeit? Welche Grundhaltungen liegen der Wissensproduktion zu Grunde und welchen Einfluss haben sie auf wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse? Ziel des Sammelbandes ist es, Vorannahmen über den Islam sichtbar zu machen. Das Buch fragt dabei nicht nach der Haltbarkeit von Hypothesen, sondern konzentriert sich darauf, wie Wissen über den Islam zustande kommt. Kritik wird an quantitativen Wissensbeständen geübt, welche zu stark auf Zahlen und Fakten basierten und somit eine vermeintlich homogene Gruppe vermessen würden. Oft würden Gemeinsamkeiten weniger beachtet und es käme zu einer Art "Othering" von Muslimen. Zudem wird im Buch ein zu starkes Gewicht des Nationalstaats als Ausgangspunkt von Studien bemängelt. Translokale Gegebenheiten würden dadurch ausgeblendet. Der Zusammenhang zwischen Herkunft und Muslimsein würde von Islamwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftlern oft nicht ausreichend untersucht.
