It then proceeds to a text grammatical analysis of selected texts. Combining these two approaches yields new insights. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht das Althochdeutsche erstmalig aus einer dezidiert textlinguistischen Perspektive. Hierzu wird das Gros der althochdeutschen Textdenkmäler zuerst einer soziopragmatischen Einordnung unterzogen. Im Anschluss werden ausgewählte Texte aus dem Kommunikationsbereich der pastoralen Seelsorge bzw. des Gottesdienstes textgrammatisch analysiert. Die Kombination von sozio- und systemlinguistischem Ansatz ermöglicht profunde Aussagen über die an die Texte gestellten kommunikativen Aufgaben und deren erfolgreiche Umsetzung. Für beide Analyseschritte werden theoretisch reflektierte Systematiken entwickelt. Der aus zwei sich ergänzenden Perspektiven (soziolinguistisch und textgrammatisch) erfolgende Zugriff auf das Althochdeutsche stellt eine qualitativ neue Bearbeitung des Forschungsgegenstandes dar, setzt wichtige Impulse für eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema und regt zudem dazu an, die entwickelten Analyseinstrumentarien an weiteren historischen Sprachstufen zu erproben. . - For the first time, this study describes Old High German using the comprehensive approach of text linguistics.     Biographical note: Felix Steiner, Universität Zürich, Schweiz. Academic texts are regarded as impersonal texts. They follow what is known as the 0I0 taboo. The present study resolves the question of how the 0I0 is to be seen in academic texts. The concept of the author moves on a multiplicity of levels. On the one hand, typical academic acts (such as 0solving a research problem0) are continually being explicated, on the other, typical attitudes are also being indicated (such as uncertainty). In the model, the marking levels are integrated. Thus the ‘author in the text‚ can be determined both as typical of a domain and as an individual figure. Wissenschaftliche Texte gelten als unpersönliche Texte. Sie gehorchen dem so genannten Ich-Tabu. Die vorliegende Arbeit beantwortet die Frage, wie das „Ich0 in wissenschaftlichen Texten aufzufassen sei. Das Autorkonzept bewegt sich auf mehreren Ebenen. Zum einen werden wissenschaftstypische Handlungen (wie „ein Forschungsproblem lösen0) laufend expliziert, zum andern werden auch typische Haltungen (wie Unsicherheit) angedeutet. Im Modell werden die Markierungsebenen integriert. Damit kann der „Autor-im-Text0 sowohl als domänentypische wie als individuelle Figur bestimmt werden.

Die Studie untersucht, mit welchen sprachlichen Mitteln englische Texte einen Vorstellungsraum vor dem ,inneren Auge‘ des Lesers konstituieren. Sie bezieht sich daher auf Textsorten wie Reiseführer oder geographische Sachtexte, die visuell wahrnehmbare Szenerien beschreiben. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Reihenfolge, in welcher die Bestandteile des Raums eingeführt werden, woraus eine Klassifikation von ,Blickführungstypen‘ abgeleitet wird. Auf dieser Basis werden entsprechende Effekte und Funktionen verschiedener Strategien der Raumkonstitution analysiert. The study examines the linguistic devices used in English texts to constitute an imagined space before the reader's 0inner eye.0 For this, it has recourse to text types such as travel guides or factual geographical texts wnich describe visually perceptible scenarios. The focus is on the sequence in which the elements of the space are introduced, and from this a classification is derived of different ways in which the reader’s eye is led. On this basis, the relevant effects and functions are analysed of different strategies for constituting space.
