    1989/1990 standen Schriftsteller, Künstler und Intellektuelle im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit: als Kommentatoren und Beobachter, aber auch als Akteure eines geschichtlichen Prozesses. Die anstehende Neuordnung der Gesellschaften, Verfassungsversammlungen, Runde Tische und Evaluationskommissionen wie auch die Veränderungen im Kulturbereich boten hinreichend Platz für intellektuelle Debatten, forderten aber zugleich eine Anpassung an die veränderten medialen Bedingungen.Vor dem Hintergrund einiger Fallbeispiele 'klassischen' intellektuellen Handelns, die von Christopf Kaufmann aus der Goethezeit über die deutsche Literatur nach 1945 mit Günter Eich, Walter Boehlich, Rudolf Walter Leonhardt, Alexander Kluge, Christa Wolf oder Heiner Müller bis zu Dietmar Dath in der Gegenwartsliteratur reichen, präsentieren die Beiträge des Bandes Porträts und Entwicklungslinien zwischen intellektueller Praxis und den Möglichkeiten einer Inszenierung als Medienprominenz vor und nach 1989/90 In 1989 and 1990, authors, artists, and intellectuals were at the center of attention: As commentators and observers, but also as agents in a historical process.The impending reordering of societies, constitutional assemblies, round tables, and evaluation commissions, and also the cultural changes, offered plenty of space for intellectual debates while at the same time calling for an adaption to the changing medial situation. The contributions to this volume present case studies, portraits, and lines of development between intellectual practice and the staging of media celebrities
