    This study provides a comprehensive review and evaluation of the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development in the Caribbean. The Montevideo Consensus was adopted by the governments of the region in 2013 and includes more than one hundred priority actions covering themes including population policy and planning; children and youth; ageing; sexual and reproductive health; gender equality; international migration; territorial inequality; and indigenous peoples. This study was prepared to inform the first five-year review of the implementation of the Consensus which was carried out, first, at the Caribbean Preparatory Meeting for the Third Session of the Regional Conference on Population and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean and, subsequently, at the regional conference itself. The Caribbean preparatory meeting was held in Georgetown, Guyana from 24 to 26 July 2018 while the regional conference was held in Lima, Peru from 7 to 9 August 2018. This study should therefore be read in conjunction with the reports of these meetings. Abstract .-- Introduction .-- I.     El presente estudio expone algunas de las implicaciones económicas y sociales de la transición demográfica que atraviesa el Paraguay, con una mirada especial en las transformaciones de la estructura por edades de la población y las consecuencias de este fenómeno en el desarrollo y logro de ciertos ODS, en un entorno marcado por importantes desigualdades.De los tres mecanismos que tiene la sociedad para el financiamiento del déficit -reasignaciones al interior del hogar, las transferencias públicas financiadas con impuestos y la acumulación de activos por parte de las personas- el más importante en el Paraguay es el realizado por las familias, lo cual implica serias dificultades para el desarrollo teniendo en cuenta que el contexto de bajos ingresos laborales y altos niveles de informalidad.Debido a que la participación de las transferencias familiares es mayor en el caso de la niñez y que el sector público tiene una participación relativa más importante en el caso de las personas mayores, las transferencias públicas podrían estar siendo una fuente de desigualdad intergeneracional, tal como se ha verificado en otros países de la región.     At the beginning of the twenty-first century, intergenerational relations remain a key aspect of the future development and sustainability of the European social model. In the present paper, patterns of intergenerational support and the main driving factors behind individuals' transfer behavior are explored. In particular, the data form the Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe are utilized to shed light on the main factors behind the likelihood and intensity of social support, and financial help provided to and received from other family members by ageing and elderly Europeans. The analysis also takes into consideration patterns and factors correlated with grandparenting activities. Finally, special attention is devoted to the condition of those individuals who are sandwiched between care obligations toward their elderly parents and young adult children. It is shown that the likelihood of the exchange of support between family generations is highest in Scandinavian countries and lowest in Southern Europe. The intensity of support follows an opposite North-South gradient. In addition, relevant gender-related inequalities are documented. In general, time-demanding support obligations are more likely to fall on the shoulders of women in the early stage of their later life, while mainly benefitting elderly men

    Este estudio, elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) y el Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía-CELADE-División de Población de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe-CEPAL, analiza la transición de la movilidad, la evolución de la migración interna en el Perú y sus características a nivel departamental, provincial y distrital, utilizando los Censos Nacionales de Población y Vivienda de los años 1993, 2007 y 2017. El documento cuantifica, describe y examina la migración interna, tanto en términos empíricos, como teóricos y de política.     Este estudio, elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) y el Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía-CELADE-División de Población de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe-CEPAL, analiza la transición de la movilidad, la evolución de la migración interna en el Perú y sus características a nivel departamental, provincial y distrital, utilizando los Censos Nacionales de Población y Vivienda de los años 1993, 2007 y 2017. El documento cuantifica, describe y examina la migración interna, tanto en términos empíricos, como teóricos y de política. Para ello se aplican diversos procedimientos especializados tendientes a estimar la intensidad de la migración interna, a precisar su selectividad y a calcular cuatro efectos territoriales sociodemográficos: crecimiento, redistribución, composición y desigualdad.     El presente estudio expone algunas de las implicaciones económicas y sociales de la transición demográfica que atraviesa el Paraguay, con una mirada especial en las transformaciones de la estructura por edades de la población y las consecuencias de este fenómeno en el desarrollo y logro de ciertos ODS, en un entorno marcado por importantes desigualdades.De los tres mecanismos que tiene la sociedad para el financiamiento del déficit -reasignaciones al interior del hogar, las transferencias públicas financiadas con impuestos y la acumulación de activos por parte de las personas- el más importante en el Paraguay es el realizado por las familias, lo cual implica serias dificultades para el desarrollo teniendo en cuenta que el contexto de bajos ingresos laborales y altos niveles de informalidad.Debido a que la participación de las transferencias familiares es mayor en el caso de la niñez y que el sector público tiene una participación relativa más importante en el caso de las personas mayores, las transferencias públicas podrían estar siendo una fuente de desigualdad intergeneracional, tal como se ha verificado en otros países de la región.
