    Die Definition der Vergewaltigung im heutigen Sexualstrafrecht, in Deutschland zuletzt 1997/98 reformiert, unterscheidet sich von der Definition der Notzucht im älteren Strafrecht. Der Band gibt einen Querschnitt der juristischen und kulturellen Vorstellungen und Definitionen von sexueller Gewalt, basierend auf Gesetzestexten, Prozessakten und literarischen Texten aus drei Jahrhunderten. Dabei fördern die Autorinnen erstaunliche Kontinuitäten zutage - vor allem in den Täter- und Opferbildern, die in der Rechtsprechung bis heute eine wichtige Rolle spielen.
