    Cultural heritage was invented in the realm of nation-states, and from an early point it was considered a public asset, stewarded to narrate the historic deeds of the ancestors, on behalf of their descendants. Nowadays, as the neoliberal narrative would have it, it is for the benefit of these tax-paying citizens that privatisation logic on heritage sector have been increasing over recent decades, to cover their needs in the name of social responsibility and other truncated views of the welfare state.;This volume examines whether we can place cultural heritage at the other end of the spectrum, as a common good and potentially as a commons. It does so by looking at Greece as a case study, lately a battlefield of harsh and experimental austerity measures but also of inspiring grass-roots mobilisation and scholarship, currently blossoming to defend the right of communities to enjoy, collaboratively manage and co-create goods by the people, for the people. ;Since cultural heritage -and culture in general- is hastily bundled up with other goods and services in various arguments for and against their public character, this volume invites several experts to discuss their views on their field of expertise and reflect on the overarching theme: Can cultural heritage be considered a commons? If so, what are the advantages and pitfalls concerning theory, practice and management of heritage? What can we learn from other public resources with a longer history in commons-based or market-oriented interpretation and governance? Can a commons approach allow us to imagine and start working towards a better, more inclusive and meaningful future for heritage? ;

    How do artist archives survive and stay authentic in radically changed contexts? The volume addresses the challenge of continuity, sustainability, and institutionalization of archives established by Eastern European artists. At its center stands the 40th anniversary of the Artpool Art Research Center founded in 1979 in Budapest as an underground institution based on György Galántai's »Active Archive« concept. Ten internationally renowned scholars propose contemporary interpretations of this concept and frame artist archives not as mere sources of art history but as models of self-historicization. The contributions give knowledgeable insights into the transition of Cold War art networks and institutional landscapes.

Viele der heutigen Museumsangestellten erklären sich deswegen zu Reformen bereit. Doch können sie sich tatsächlich vom Kolonialismus trennen? Ist eine Dekolonisation ethnologischer Museen mit kolonialer Beute je abschließend möglich? Am Beispiel umstrittener Heiligtümer lebender Kulturen untersucht Christoph Balzar das Verfahren der Musealisierung durch die Linse der Diskriminierungskritik. Im Fokus stehen dabei die Sammlungen der »Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin«.

    The museum and heritage sector has been shaken by debates over how to address colonialism, migration, Islamophobia, LGBTI+ and multiple other forms of difference. This major multi-researcher ethnography of museums and heritage in Berlin provides new insight into how ›diversity‹ is understood and put into action in museums and heritage. Exploring new initiatives and approaches, the book shows how these work - or do not - in practice. By doing so, it highlights ways forward - for research and action - for the future. The fieldwork locations on which this book is based include the Humboldt Forum, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Museum für Naturkunde, and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, as well as Berlin streets and protests.

    Die Studie widmet sich der Analyse der latent hinter den Regelungsinhalten deutschsprachiger Führungsgrundsätze wirkenden Sinn- und Bedeutungsdimension. Unter Rückgriff auf qualitativ-hermeneutische und argumentationsanalytische Methoden werden die unhinterfragten und typisierten Vorstellungen von Führung und Steuerung rekonstruiert sowie die rhetorischen und argumentativen Strategien identifiziert, mit welchen diese Vorstellungen diskursiv verankert werden. Die latenten Argumentationsmuster im Material zeigen einen starken Fokus auf Effizienzüberlegungen hinter den manifest geäußerten Partizipationsbestrebungen. Durch die diffuse und allgemeine Natur der verwendeten Argumente wird außerdem eine breite Anschlussfähigkeit und damit einhergehend eine herrschaftssichernde Wirkung der Dokumente angestrebt.

This book is written for those charged with being leaders, and uses poststructuralist theory to provide a language for the confusions and uncertainties that leadership can often bring, Management has failed: its successor is leadership. But can leadership fulfil the promises that are made in its name? Leadership as Identity, which brings together several studies of leadership, argues that it cannot. It shows how leadership -- as currently conceptualized and practiced -- ignores or actively denies its antagonistic or disconcerting aspects. It explores the negative and unsettling elements to leadership, showing that to be a leader is to be anxious, stressed and defeated by the burden of having to be super-human. The book is aimed at academics, students and managers. It uses poststructuralist theories about identity and the construction of the self to provide a body of ideas, a language even, that encourages readers to think in a different way about leadership.
