    Zunehmender Kostendruck verlangt auch in Krankenhäusern ein professionelles Management und eine effektive Selbstorganisation. Mitarbeiterführung und betriebswirtschaftliche Qualifikationen stehen bislang allerdings kaum in den Lehrplänen der Hochschulen. Die beiden Autorinnen Anja Lüthy und Jessica Schmiemann haben daher für Ärzte sowie Pflege- und Verwaltungsleiter ein Handbuch verfaßt, damit diese "möglichst streßfrei und professionell mit ihren Mitarbeitern gemeinsam Ziele erreichen" können. Unzufriedenheit unter den Mitarbeitern könne auch für Krankenhäuser das "Ende" bedeuten, warnen sie. In den nachfolgenden Kapiteln stellen Anja Lüthy, die an der Fachhochschule Brandenburg in Potsdam Dienstleistungsmanagement und -marketing lehrt, und Jessica Schmiemann, eine Psychologin, die "Soft Skills" vor, durch die ihrer Ansicht nach Leistungsfähigkeit und - Zufriedenheit innerhalb der Krankenhausabteilungen gestärkt werden können: Durchsetzungskraft, die Fähigkeit zu Entscheidungen, Kooperation, Teamarbeit, Kritik und Kommunikation, Konfliktlösung und Organisationstalent. - Konkrete Praxisbeispiele aus Krankenhäusern und Kliniken sind jedoch rar; statt dessen wird auf das beispielhafte Vorgehen in einem Pharmakonzern, einem Hotel und in der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft sowie in einem Outplacement-Beratungsunternehmen verwiesen.
