    Eine Heimat für aufmüpfige DDR-Literatur. Als "Nischenverlag für aufmüpfige DDR-Literatur" erwarb sich der Hinstorff Verlag Anfang der 1970er Jahre einen besonderen Ruf. Cheflektor Kurt Batt und Verlagsleiter Konrad Reich versammelten Autoren wie Franz Fühmann, Jurek Becker, Rolf Schneider, Klaus Schlesinger und Fritz Rudolf Fries um sich. Der Durchbruch gelang 1973 mit dem Buch "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." von Ulrich Plenzdorf. Doch der Erfolg sollte sich als politisches Ärgernis herausstellen und zur De-facto-Absetzung des Cheflektors führen. Wie gelang der Aufstieg vom Provinz- zum Kultverlag? Welche Strategien wurden im Zensurprozess angewendet und welchen Einfluss übten Partei und Staatssicherheit aus? Kerstin Hohner zeichnet anhand von umfangreichem Quellenmaterial und Gesprächen mit Autoren, ehemaligen Verlagslektoren und Mitarbeitern der Hauptverwaltung Verlage und Buchhandel die Geschichte und Editionspolitik des Verlages von 1959 bis 1977 nach und liefert einen detaillierten Einblick in die deutsche Literaturgeschichte nach 1945.

    Eine Heimat für aufmüpfige DDR-Literatur. Als "Nischenverlag für aufmüpfige DDR-Literatur" erwarb sich der Hinstorff Verlag Anfang der 1970er Jahre einen besonderen Ruf. Cheflektor Kurt Batt und Verlagsleiter Konrad Reich versammelten Autoren wie Franz Fühmann, Jurek Becker, Rolf Schneider, Klaus Schlesinger und Fritz Rudolf Fries um sich. Der Durchbruch gelang 1973 mit dem Buch "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." von Ulrich Plenzdorf. Doch der Erfolg sollte sich als politisches Ärgernis herausstellen und zur De-facto-Absetzung des Cheflektors führen. Wie gelang der Aufstieg vom Provinz- zum Kultverlag? Welche Strategien wurden im Zensurprozess angewendet und welchen Einfluss übten Partei und Staatssicherheit aus? Kerstin Hohner zeichnet anhand von umfangreichem Quellenmaterial und Gesprächen mit Autoren, ehemaligen Verlagslektoren und Mitarbeitern der Hauptverwaltung Verlage und Buchhandel die Geschichte und Editionspolitik des Verlages von 1959 bis 1977 nach und liefert einen detaillierten Einblick in die deutsche Literaturgeschichte nach 1945.
