    Biographical note: Hans-Peter Bayerdörfer, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. In the course of the 20th century there was a growing discrepancy between literary dramatics and the modern stage which led to serious dislocations. Nowadays we are faced with a multiplicity of theatrical texts which can no longer be described using the categories of a poetology of drama - including its epic extensions, nor can they be explained exclusively from the changes and conditions of stage aesthetics. The relationship between drama and the theatre is in a state of flux and constantly requires innovation from both sides Die im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts wachsende Diskrepanz zwischen literarischer Dramatik und moderner Bühne brachte gravierende Verschiebungen mit sich. Die Vielfalt heutiger Theatertexte lässt sich nicht mehr nach Gesichtspunkten der Poetologie des Dramas, einschließlich seiner epischen Erweiterungen, beschreiben nochaus den Veränderungen und Bedingungen der Bühnenästhetik einseitig ableiten. Das Verhältnis von Drama und Theater ist im Umbruch und fordert auf beiden Seiten ständig zu Innovationen heraus. Questo il quesito posto nell'analisi di un corpus di "scrittura popolare" toscana del '900: una trentina di testi di scriventi toscani con istruzione scolastica elementare. Sullo sfondo teorico della scrittura come sistema e come processo, nonchi della sua acquisizione, l'analisi empirica mira ad individuare i fattori socioculturali e situazionali rilevanti per la competenza scrittoria mediale e per la selezione funzionale alla comunicazione. What factors are to be considered constitutive for competence in spelling, punctuation, and formal written correctness? The study attempts to answer this question with reference to a corpus of 'ordinary' writing (scrittura popolare) from 20th century Tuscany, some thirty texts by Tuscan writers with elementary school education (3-6 years). Based on theories of writing as a system and a process and theoretical knowledge on the acquisition of writing skills, the empirical analysis sets out to distinguish the socio-cultural and situational factors relevant for competence in the use of written language and in the selection of resources appropriate to the communicative aims involved.
