    Public health and concepts of health and physiology, in Germany, from approximately the turn of the century to the end of World War II (about 1900-1945), communicated through exhibitions and museum pieces Gesundheitsausstellungen erlebten im Deutschen Reich der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts eine wahre Boomphase. Sie waren die deutschen Versionen der Weltausstellung und zogen bis zum Beginn des Zweiten Weltkriegs ein Millionenpublikum an. Ziel ihrer Veranstalter war es, durch Wissensvermittlung und emotionale Ansprache das gesundheitsrelevante Verhalten der Bevölkerung zu beeinflussen. Dafür versammelten sie eine Vielzahl heterogener Akteure auf den Ausstellungen, deren Bezugspunkt die Gesundheit der deutschen Bevölkerung darstellte. Die Studie untersucht einerseits die Geschichte der Gesundheitsausstellung vom späten Kaiserreich bis zum Nationalsozialismus und beschreibt die Genese, Durchführung und erstmals auch die transnationale Dimension dieser Großexpositionen. Andererseits zeigt sie, welchen Ordnungen der Körper auf den Ausstellungen unterworfen wurde und wie die unterschiedlichen Akteure durch den Bezug auf den Körper Fragen der gesellschaftlichen Inklusion oder Exklusion verhandelten. Damit leistet die Arbeit nicht nur einen Beitrag zur Geschichte der Wissenschaftspopularisierung um die Jahrhundertwende, sondern auch zur Körpergeschichte der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. The well-known South African artist William Kentridge (b. 1955) has become famous for his time-lapse animation movies and installations, as well as his activities as an opera and theater director. This book offers a unique selection of Kentridge's work curated for Sint-Janshospitaal in Bruges-- at 800 years one of Europe's oldest surviving hospital buildings-- organized around the themes of trauma and healing. The book features an introduction by Margaret K.     Public health and concepts of health and physiology, in Germany, from approximately the turn of the century to the end of World War II (about 1900-1945), communicated through exhibitions and museum pieces Gesundheitsausstellungen erlebten im Deutschen Reich der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts eine wahre Boomphase. Sie waren die deutschen Versionen der Weltausstellung und zogen bis zum Beginn des Zweiten Weltkriegs ein Millionenpublikum an. Ziel ihrer Veranstalter war es, durch Wissensvermittlung und emotionale Ansprache das gesundheitsrelevante Verhalten der Bevölkerung zu beeinflussen. Dafür versammelten sie eine Vielzahl heterogener Akteure auf den Ausstellungen, deren Bezugspunkt die Gesundheit der deutschen Bevölkerung darstellte. Die Studie untersucht einerseits die Geschichte der Gesundheitsausstellung vom späten Kaiserreich bis zum Nationalsozialismus und beschreibt die Genese, Durchführung und erstmals auch die transnationale Dimension dieser Großexpositionen. Andererseits zeigt sie, welchen Ordnungen der Körper auf den Ausstellungen unterworfen wurde und wie die unterschiedlichen Akteure durch den Bezug auf den Körper Fragen der gesellschaftlichen Inklusion oder Exklusion verhandelten. Damit leistet die Arbeit nicht nur einen Beitrag zur Geschichte der Wissenschaftspopularisierung um die Jahrhundertwende, sondern auch zur Körpergeschichte der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.
