Die Analogie (lat. proportio) ist für die Antike das erkenntnistheoretische Prinzip par excellence. Platon nennt sie das „schönste Band“, das den Kosmos zusammenhält. Für Aristoteles sollen Analogien zwischen verschiedenen Arten und Gattungen ein besseres Verständnis von Strukturmerkmalen in der Biologie ermöglichen. Das mächtigste Verhältnis ist jedoch das als Pros hen bekannte, das die Grundlage aller Seins-Analogie-Lehren im Mittelalter bildet. Im 20. Jahrhundert findet das Analogiedenken Eingang in die Phänomenologie und in die Psychoanalyse. Dieser Band stellt die Analogie ausgehend von der Antike über das Mittelalter und die Neuzeit dar und untersucht ihr Potential im Kontext gegenwärtiger philosophischer Diskussionen. For Aristoteles, analogies between different species and genera should enable a better understanding of structural features in biology. The most powerful relationship, however, is the one known as Pros-hen, which forms the basis of all being-analogy teachings in the Middle Ages. In the 20th century, analogical thinking finds its way into phenomenology and psychoanalysis. This volume presents analogy starting from antiquity through the Middle Ages and modern times and explores its potential in the context of contemporary philosophical discussions.
