    Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a form of education that combines language and content learning objectives, a shared concern with other models of bilingual education. While CLIL research has often addressed learning outcomes, this volume focuses on how integration can be conceptualised and investigated. Using different theoretical and methodological approaches, ranging from socioconstructivist learning theories to systemic functional linguistics, the book explores three intersecting perspectives on integration concerning curriculum and pedagogic planning, participant perceptions and classroom practices. The ensuing multidimensionality highlights that in the inherent connectedness of content and language, various institutional, pedagogical and personal aspects of integration also need to be considered

    Content and Language Integrated Learning has received a strong tailwind in European educational and language policies. It is on the verge of becoming a mainstream phenomenon. However, an overly speedy implementation of «CLIL for all» might bear a number of risks for all groups of stakeholders. The purpose of this book is to link the growing empirical knowledge about the full complexity of CLIL to the current European educational and language policies. The articles collected in this volume contribute to a more systematic evidence base of CLIL that has frequently been called for at a European level.     In der interdisziplinären Arbeit geht es um das bilinguale Lernen im Mathematikunterricht der Primarstufe. Dafür wird sowohl eine mathematikdidaktische als auch eine sprachwissenschaftliche Perspektive eingenommen. Zur Untersuchung mathematischer Begriffsbildungsprozesse kommt als innovatives Erhebungsinstrument die Methode ‚PriMaPodcast‘ zum Einsatz.Bei der Erstellung von Audio-Podcasts zu einem mathematischen Begriff durchlaufen die Lernenden einen mehrstufigen Prozess, in welchem sie verschiedene Darstellungen nutzen und Lernartefakte medialer Art entwerfen. Im Prozess äußern sie sich zunächst spontan, ohne weitere Hilfsmittel. Erst im Verlauf können didaktische Arbeitsmittel für eigene Kommunikations- und Argumentationsprozesse herangezogen werden. Schließlich erhalten die Grundschulkinder auch eine Rückmeldung seitens der Lehrkraft und von ihren Peers.Die empirische Studie ist in der qualitativen Schul- und Unterrichtsforschung zu verorten und folgt einer rekonstruktiv-interpretativen Methodologie. Der Fokus richtet sich auf die Begriffsvorstellungen bzw. das Begriffsverständnis der Grundschulkinder, auf ihre fachsprachlichen Äußerungen sowie die Kommunikationsmittel und kommunikativen Strategien in den Bearbeitungs- und Aushandlungsprozessen.Auf diese Weise wird ein Beitrag zu dem noch wenig erforschten Feld der Begriffsbildung im bilingualen Mathematikunterricht der Grundschule geleistet. Auch der Einsatz des Erhebungsinstruments ist in forschungsmethodischer Hinsicht von Interesse und Gegenstand der Untersuchung.
