    Die Auseinandersetzung mit literarisch inszenierter Adoleszenz hat sich insbesondere seit der Jahrtausendwende zu einem produktiven Arbeitsfeld der Literaturwissenschaft entwickelt. Vor allem Kinder- und Jugendliteraturforschung sowie Literaturdidaktik haben davon profitiert. Doch wie hängen Adoleszenz und Alterität zusammen? Die Beiträger*innen erarbeiten anhand von exemplarischen literatur- und medienwissenschaftlichen Analysen Anknüpfungspunkte zwischen Adoleszenz und interkulturellen sowie postkolonialen Fragestellungen und greifen aktuelle Themen wie z.B. Flucht, Migration, Rassismus oder (post-)koloniale Erfahrungen auf. Dabei werden auch didaktische Überlegungen im Sinne eines rassismussensiblen, interkulturellen Unterrichts in den Fokus gerückt.

Durch die Konfrontation mit dem Drachen wird die Begegnung mit dem Fremden im Eigenen, mit dem Tierischen im Menschen intensiver inszeniert als bei allen anderen Fabelwesen.Die Beiträge des Bandes analysieren diesen Zusammenhang aus dem Licht unterschiedlichster Epochen und Disziplinen: von mesopotamischen und frühchristlichen Drachenbildern über die Literatur des Mittelalters bis zu modernen Figurationen des Drachens, etwa in der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur und der Fantasy, aber auch in Film und Computerspiel

    This collection examines some of the people, places, and plays at the edge of early modern English drama. Recent scholarship has begun to think more critically about the edge, particularly in relation to the canon and canonicity. This book demonstrates that the people and concepts long seen as on the edge of early modern English drama made vital contributions both within the fictive worlds of early modern plays, and without, in the real worlds of playmakers, theaters, and audiences. The book engages with topics such as child actors, alterity, sexuality, foreignness, and locality to acknowledge and extend the rich sense of playmaking and all its ancillary activities that have emerged over the last decade. The essays by a global team of scholars bring to life people and practices that flourished on the edge, manifesting their importance to both early modern audiences, and to current readers and performers

    "Michael Lent asks what role art has in colonisation and subsequent dissolution. He proposes a practice informed by the fatal strategies and 'raw' phenomenology of Jean Baudrillard as a challenge to a system of disappearance. Focusing on the otherness of space to prevent its ultimate dissolution, Lent promotes a spatial practice of radical alterity. Examining ideas of disappearance put forth by Baudrillard and Paul Virilio, he utilises art as a means for investigating loss of potentiality and experience through the representation of space, shifting their ideas - originally ascribed to objects - into a new emphasis. This book ultimately attempts to break a cyclical system that causes everything to disappear into representation and equivalency."

    Außenseiter – von einflussreichen so­zialen Eliten oder Großgruppen der Regelverletzung bezichtig­te und darum von diesen ausgegrenzte Indi­viduen oder Kleingruppen – scheinen in den modernen westli­chen Gesellschaften allgegenwärtig zu sein, die heutzutage zunehmend von politi­schen, religiösen und sozialen Krisen gepräg­t sind. Der vieler Orten wiederauflebende protektionistische Nationalismus, einhergehend mit Gewalt zwischen Religionen und Ethnien, aber auch der derzeit zu beobachtende Backlash gegen emanzipatorische Bewegungen und egalitäre Veränderungen innerhalb einer Gesellschaft sind nur einige der aktuellen Symptome dieser Konjunktur des Außenseitertums. Dabei hat es Außenseiter fraglos auch in der älteren und jüngeren Geschichte immer gegeben: Die frühneuzeitliche Hexenverbrennung mit klar misogyner Ausrichtung, die ethnisch motivierte Vertreibung der amerikanischen Ureinwohner wie auch der Holocaust in der NS-Zeit – all diese Verfolgungswellen lassen sich als ideologisch geführte Feldzüge etablierter Gruppierungen gegen stigmatisierte und rigoros ausgegrenzte Minderheiten lesen: In allen Manifestationen sind Machtstrukturen wirksam, die in den selbst- und fremdgestifteten, diversen und konkurrierenden Diskursen von Außenseitern und über Außenseiter ihre Spuren hinterlassen haben, denen sich das vorliegende Dossier widmet. ; Outsiders – individuals or small groups accused of violating the rules by influential social elites or large groups and therefore excluded from them – seem to be omnipresent in modern western societies that nowadays are increasingly shaped by political, religious, and social crises. The protectionist nationalism, resurgent in many countries and accompanied by violence between religious and/or ethnic groups, but also the looming backlash against emancipatory movements and egalitarian changes within a society are just some of the current symptoms of this boom of outsiders.
