    African francophone novel - semiology of the image - postcolonial poetics and theory - literary texts - African cinema - African cinema - adaptation De l’écrit à l’écran est le premier ouvrage qui aborde la question de la réécriture filmique du roman africain francophone. Il se sert de la sémiologie de l’image, de la poétique et des théories post-coloniales pour définir les enjeux théoriques, idéologiques et sémantiques régissant le passage des textes littéraires au cinéma. Il identifie des paramètres importants dans la poétique de l’écriture et montre le rôle de l’acte créateur dans l’altérité du texte dérivé, filmique, par rapport au texte de départ, littéraire. De ce fait, il formule des propositions novatrices par rapport aux interrogations purement spéculatives, thématiques ou idéologiques sur « l’adaptation », acte de recréation et de réécriture dont les mécanismes dépassent le seul cadre des cinémas africains.

    This timely volume explores a wealth of North American literary texts that engage with moral and ethical dilemmas. It ranges from William Dean Howells's and Henry James's realist novels to Edward Sapir's intermedial poems, and from John Muir's unpublished letters and journal of his 1893 tour of the Swiss Alps to Rudy Wiebe's A Discovery of Strangers and the poetry of Robert Lowell. Many of the contributions also critically engage with and re?ect on some of the most prominent voices in contemporary theoretical debates about ethics such as Ludwig Wittgenstein, Jürgen Habermas, Em-manuel Levinas, Axel Honneth, Hannah Arendt, John Rawls, and Julia Kristeva. This volume thus aptly covers the panoply of contemporary ethical and moral interventions while at the same time providing distinctively American Studies perspectives

    This article deals with the cultural environment that characterized Western Thebes during the Byzantine era. An attempt will be made to reconstruct some of the cultural features of this specific context by means of a methodology that combines a historical-cultural perspective - that always has archaeological contexts in mind - with the reasoning on statistical data relating to various aspects concerning the Theban literary manuscripts. What is most interesting is to investigate how the contribution of such a methodology can help in the reconstruction of the different cultural contexts responsible for the production, circulation, and conservation of literary manuscripts in Late Antique Thebes. This, in light of a recently renewed interest in this context that - even if not peripheral - certainly was not so central geographically and culturally in the broader milieu of Christian Egypt. Il presente articolo prende in considerazione l'ambiente culturale che caratterizzò Tebe ovest in epoca bizantina. Si tenterà di ricostruire alcune delle caratteristiche culturali di questo specifico contesto mediante una metodologia che combini una prospettiva storico-culturale - che abbia sempre presenti i contesti archeologici - con il ragionamento sui dati statistici relativi a vari aspetti riguardanti i manoscritti letterari tebani. Ciò che più interessa, è capire in che modo tale metodologia possa contribuire alla ricostruzione dei diversi contesti culturali responsabili della produzione, circolazione e conservazione dei manoscritti letterari nella Tebe tardoantica. Ciò, alla luce del recentemente rinnovato interesse per questo contesto che - benché non periferico - certamente non fu così centrale geograficamente e culturalmente sullo sfondo più ampio dell'Egitto cristiano.
