    Abstract: Vor dem Hintergrund einer zunehmenden Ethnisierung und Rassisierung von Homo*-, Trans*- und Inter*phobie in öffentlichen und politischen Debatten gehen wir in diesem Beitrag der Frage nach, wie sich diese Diskurse und Deutungsmuster in queeren Aushandlungen und Wahrnehmungen des urbanen Raums materialisieren. Auf der Basis von ausgewählten Ergebnissen einer breit angelegten empirischen Auftragsstudie zu den Lebensbedingungen von Lesben, Schwulen, Trans*, Inter* und queeren Personen (LGBTIQs) in der Stadt Wien analysieren wir aus einer intersektionalrassismuskritischen und affektheoretischen Perspektive, welche Bezirke und Orte in der Stadt Wien von den Studienteilnehmer*innen aus welchen Gründen als Angsträume bzw. Gefahrenzonen für LGBTIQs wahrgenommen werden. Besonderer Fokus liegt dabei auf der Frage, ob die Identifizierung von Wiens klassischen Arbeiter*innenbezirken als Problembezirke für LGBTIQs als Manifestationen rassisierter und klassisierter Stadt- und Raumkonstruktionen

    Die Verschränkung von Heteronormativität, Homonormativität und hegemonialer Männlichkeit hat weitreichende Konsequenzen für die Darstellung wichtiger Momente und Akteure der LGBTQIAN+ Geschichte. Die Autorin untersucht, wie die Filme Howl, Stonewall und Milk die Emanzipation ihrer Protagonistinnen und Protagonisten inszenieren, während sie gleichzeitig ihre Unterdrückung reproduzieren und ihre Diskriminierung ästhetisieren und konsumierbar machen. Dieser Widerspruch steht sinnbildlich für neue Formen von Ausgrenzung, die subtiler funktionieren als unverhohlene Homophobie, unverblümter Sexismus oder offensichtlicher Rassismus und sich zugleich einer komplexeren Repräsentation von sozialen Erfahrungen verwehren sowie statische, abgrenzbare Identitäten verfestigen. The interrelationship between heteronormativity, homonormativity and hegemonic masculinity has widereaching ramifications for the representation of important moments and agents in LGBTQIAN+ history. In this study, the author examines how the films Howl, Stonewall and Milk enact the emancipation of their protagonists, while simultaneously reproducing their oppression and aestheticising their discrimination, thus making it consumable. This contradiction is emblematic of new forms of exclusion that function more subtly than blatant homophobia, outright sexism or overt racism, while at the same time rejecting a more complex repre-sentation of social experiences but instead solidifying static, definable identities.

    Patrice Petro challenges the conventional assessment of German film history, which sees classical films as responding solely to male anxieties and fears. Exploring the address made to women in melodramatic films and in popular illustrated magazines, she shows how Weimar Germany had a commercially viable female audience, fascinated with looking at images that called traditional representations of gender into question. Interdisciplinary in her approach, Petro interweaves archival research with recent theoretical debates to offer not merely another view of the Weimar cinema but also another way of looking at Weimar film culture. Women's modernity, she suggests, was not the same as men's modernism, and the image of the city street in film and photojournalism reveals how women responded differently from men to the political, economic, and psychic upheaval of their times
