    Main description: Dieses Buch untersucht die Gründe für die Aufwertung des Tastsinns bei Herder - ein Desiderat der Forschung. Veränderungen in der Wahrnehmungstheorie seit der frühen Neuzeit sind hierfür konstitutiv. Sie führen zur Umkehr der Sinneshierarchie sowie zur Nivellierung der Unterschiede zwischen sensus communis, Körper, Tastsinn und Gefühl. Werk- wie systemimmanent nicht lösbare Inkonsistenzen in Herders Konzeption des Tastsinns sind so erklärbar. Die Umkehr der Sinneshierarchie ist für die Ästhetik und Hermeneutik von zentraler Bedeutung, wie exemplarisch an der Diskussion um die Bestimmung der menschlichen Schönheit seit dem 16. Jahrhundert und in der Literatur um 1800 dargelegt wird

    Main description: This volume examines the reasons for Herder's foregrounding of the sense of touch. As such it fills in a significant research gap. Changes in the theory of perception since the early modern age are the constitutive factor involved. They led both to an upending of the hierarchy of the senses and to a leveling of the distinctions between sensus communis, body, sense of touch, and emotion. This casts light on inconsistencies in Herder's conception of the sense of touch that cannot be explained by looking at his works or his systematic thinking alone. The upending of the hierarchy of the senses is of cardinal significance for aesthetics and hermeneutics, as is demonstrated here with reference to the discussion on the definition of human beauty since the 16th century and in the literature around 1800

    The volume is a collection of papers that deal with the issue of translation quality from a number of perspectives. It addresses the quality of human translation and machine translation, of pragmatic and literary translation, of translations done by students and by professional translators. Quality is not merely looked at from a linguistic point of view, but the wider context of QA in the translation workflow also gets ample attention. The authors take an inductive approach: the papers are based on the analysis of translation data and/or on hands-on experience. The book provides a bird's eye view of the crucial quality issues, the close collaboration between academics and industry professionals safeguarding attention for quality in the 'real world'.
