    Diese Einführung stellt umfassend Textmerkmale und zentrale Aspekte der Stilistik vor. Untersucht wird, wie sich stilistisch relevante Textelemente isolieren und analysieren lassen. Darüber hinaus wird gezeigt, wie ihre potentielle Stilwirkung beschrieben und interpretiert werden kann. Dazu wird ein Instrumentarium für die Analyse von Texten aus verschiedenen Bereichen zur Verfügung gestellt, das es ermöglicht, stilistische Phänomene sowohl auf der Makroals auch auf der Mikroebene zu betrachten. Neben der systematischen Beschreibung der für die Stilanalyse notwendigen Einzelaspekte – etwa der stilistischen Möglichkeiten des Deutschen auf der Ebene des Wortschatzes und der Grammatik – wird besonders auf die Typisierung komplexer stilistischer Muster eingegangen. Am Beispiel verschiedener Kommunikationsbereiche wird zudem gezeigt, wie stilistische Kategorien in die Textsortenklassifikation integriert werden können, um bestimmte Teilmengen von Texten überschaubarer zu machen.
