    Das Verhältnis von Design und Demokratie ist nicht nur eine Sache der effizienten, transparenten oder partizipativen Gestaltung politischer Institutionen und ihrer Prozesse. Design muss vielmehr in seiner Wechselwirkung mit der für die Demokratie konstitutiven Kultur der Freiheit bestimmt werden. Felix Kosok legt dar, wie sich die Verhandlung der politischen Dimension des Designs auf eine grundsätzliche Ebene verlagert: Dem Design selbst kommt eine politische Bedeutung zu, die von seiner ästhetischen Dimension nicht zu trennen ist. In der produktiven Freiheit zu den Zwecken zeigt sich die prinzipielle Gestaltbarkeit der Dinge, die von einer kritischen Theorie des Designs bewusst gehalten werden muss.

    Deconstruction and obliteration - mythical narratives of foundations from an interdisciplinary perspective. Totale Zerstörung, absolute Auslöschung, Tabula rasa: Inwiefern ist das narrative Gründungspotential des Mythischen an Vorstellungen eines unbedingten Neuanfangs gebunden? Anders als die bisherige Forschung, die stets die konstruktiven Aspekte von Gründungsmythen profilierte, zeigt der Band die destruktive, Auslöschung voraussetzende oder anstrebende Dimension des Mythos auf. Dabei soll vor allem die Frage beantwortet werden, ob es eine Seite mythischer (Gründungs-)Narrative gibt, die Konstruktionen des Nullpunkts - insbesondere in Deutungskonflikten - erfordern oder begünstigen. Die Beiträge stellen aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive historische und politische Umbruchsituationen sowie narrative Strategien in den Fokus, welche Denkformen des Kahlschlags repräsentieren und deren Relation zu mythischen Gründungerzählungen illustrieren.

    "The future belongs to the phantoms", Jacques Derrida stated in the movie Ghost Dance in 1983. In his future - our present tense - the authors of this text-picture book set out to pursue their traces in aesthetics, literary studies, musicology, political philosophy, the arts and psychoanalysis. Based on the guidelines of his processing of the phantom, this un-creature, experts and readers of Derrida paint an impressive picture of deconstruction, showing that it has nothing in common with any preference for obscurantism as it was claimed in the past and that the current allegation of the refusal to accept reality does not apply to it but that it rather infinitely serves the radical clarification of reason about itself. Including a contribution by Jacques Derrida published in German for the first time. "Die Zukunft gehört den Phantomen", so Jacques Derrida 1983 im Film Ghost Dance. In seiner Zukunft - unserer Gegenwart - begeben sich die Autor_innen dieses Text-Bild-Bandes auf deren Spuren in Kunst-, Literatur- und Musikwissenschaft, politischer Philosophie, Kunst und Psychoanalyse. Am Leitfaden seiner Abarbeitung an der UnGestalt des Phantoms zeichnen Derrida-Kenner und -Leser ein eindrückliches Bild der Dekonstruktion und zeigen, dass diese nichts mit einer früher oft unterstellten Vorliebe für Obskurantismus gemein hat noch vom aktuell erhobenen Vorwurf der Wirklichkeitsverweigerung getroffen wird, sondern im unendlichen Dienst einer radikalen Aufklärung der Vernunft über sich selbst steht.     `The truth will set you free' is a maxim central to both theories and practices of resistance. Nonetheless, it is a claim that has come under fire from an array of critical perspectives in the second half of the 20th century. Iain MacKenzie analyses two of the most compelling of these perspectives: the poststructuralist politics of truth formulated by Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze and the alternative post-foundational account of truth and militancy developed by Alain Badiou. He argues that a critically oriented version of poststructuralism provides both an understanding of the deeply entwined nature of truth and power and a compelling account of the creative practices that may sustain resistance.

Coming as they do from often widely differing hermeneutical traditions, the authors in the volume offer responses to substantive and intriguing questions that the dialogue raises which are frequently divergent, but by that very token of much value in any attempt to interpret a complex and multifaceted work.

    This volume tackles both the apparent lack of unity and the perplexing philosophical content of the Statesman as it explores, in what is now Plato's second account, subsequent to that of the Republic, of what would constitute the best society, the role and nature of the statesman in it; the art of governance of it; the role and nature of its laws; the role and status of its female citizens; and how the virtues are interwoven within it, along with many other topics, including (in a major Myth) that of the origins of the universe and of humankind. Coming as they do from often widely differing hermeneutical traditions, the authors in the volume offer responses to substantive and intriguing questions that the dialogue raises which are frequently divergent, but by that very token of much value in any attempt to interpret a complex and multifaceted work.

    The Handbook systematically charts the trajectory of the English novel from its emergence as the foremost literary genre in the early twentieth century to its early twenty-first century status of eccentric eminence in new media environments. Systematic chapters address T̒he English Novel as a Distinctly Modern Genreʼ, T̒he Novel in the Economy’, G̒enres’, G̒ender’ (performativity, masculinities, feminism, queer), and T̒he Burden of Representationʼ (class and ethnicity). Extended contextualized close readings of more than twenty key texts from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness (1899) to Tom McCarthy’s Satin Island (2015) supplement the systematic approach and encourage future research by providing overviews of reception and theoretical perspectives.
