    Die deutsch-jüdische Immigration nach Palästina bzw. Israel ist ein bemerkenswertes Kapitel der modernen jüdischen Geschichte. Mitten im Umfeld der entstehenden neuhebräischen Kultur des Jischuw, der neuen jüdischen Siedlung in Palästina seit 1882, insbesondere aber im Zuge der Einwanderung von Flüchtlingen aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Tschechoslowakei nach 1933, bildete sich für Jahrzehnte eine beträchtliche deutschsprachige Gemeinschaft in Palästina, die auch in deutscher Sprache publizierte und dazu eigene Zeitschriften und Verlage betrieb. Der Band zeigt die politische und literarische Geschichte dieser deutschen Sprachkultur und erfasst zugleich in einer Bibliographie sämtliche deutschsprachigen Schriften, die in Palästina/Israel zwischen 1890 und 2000 veröffentlicht wurden. Die separat erhältliche Datenbank "Deutsch-jüdische Quellen aus Palästina / Israel" enthält neben der Bibliographie eine Auswahl besonders wertvoller und seltener Originale im Volltext

    The essays collected in this volume address a wide spectrum of issues connected to traumatic events and experiences, be they of personal, collective, national or global scale. They are complemented by poetic contemplations on trauma, which set the tone for the following scholarly investigations. The thematic scope of the collection encompasses psychological, sociological and political approaches to trauma, examples of ethnic and indigenous traumatizations, literary, cultural and visual manifestations of trauma or the medialization of trauma in the museum. As a result of the comparative, and in some cases cross-hermeneutic, design of the volume with German scholars looking at Canadian and Canadian scholars looking at German/European examples of traumatization, transatlantic perspectives on the problems at stake are opened.     We investigate experimentally the effects of information about native/immigrant identity, and the ability to communicate a self-chosen personal characteristic towards the rival on conflict behavior. In a two-player individual contest with British and Immigrant subjects in the UK we find that neither information about identity nor communicating self-characteristics significantly affect the average level of conflict. Both of those, however, significantly affect players' strategies, in the sense of the extent they involve conflict over time. Overall, the results indicate that inter-personal communication may help to mitigate high intensity conflicts when the identities are common knowledge among rivals.
